UT game - Going for last 4 in.

It?s the same thing every game as well. Early in the game it?s: no help defense and no communication on defense which leads to wide open perimeter shots or uncontested layups on guard penetration. Today was the added bonus of not blocking out and giving them a lot of second chance opportunities which led directly to TNs 34 points and 6 point lead at the half. The second half adjustments were the same as they always are: better defensive intensity, better communication and switching on defense, better blocking out and limiting second chance opportunities. Then on offense we ran it through Perry more in the second half and it got us more open looks on the perimeter and Stewart benefited with 16 second half points.

We are an extremely talented team and we know what to do obviously as we do it in the second half. Howland is aware of this because the announcers talked about it to start the game. We can get away with only playing one half against most of the league but against Kentucky and Arkansas on the road we will need to play both halves to give ourselves the best chance to win.

One thing to watch out for is do we get the call underneath the basket against KY? We got 25 at the line today. Against Fl we also shot good amount. But something tells me some whistles might get swallowed when we have the ball/

It's funny how some people just stop talking in this thread once we start doing well. I know you're disappointed about it, but it turns out our men's team actually is pretty good and is well-coached. I for one hope some of you keep being proven wrong every game.

Probalby watching and enjoying the game instead of posting all the time.

I really thought Tyson was going to be a big part of the offense this year. He just seems off. Not only is he not hitting shots he's making bad decisions too.

People on here love to rail on Ado, but all those offensive rebounds Tenn was getting in the first half mysteriously vanished in the second half when he got back into the game.

Exactly correct!

I had 2 older gentleman sitting by me at game who were UT fans.
They made the same comment to me with about 5 minutes left.

Nick Weatherspoon is becoming a great PG right before our eyes. He was more of a scoring guard in the past but he is running this team as a true PG now and doing it well. People keep bashing Ado but he does what he is supposed to do and that is defend, block shots and rebound. He does all those well

Ditto on both counts. Spoon is becoming one of best PG in SEC. Ado is a warrior on the inside. Depending on who we can get, folks will be dying for an Ado on the team in 2 years.

Ado is very underrated. He doesn't have the highest offensive production, but the dude battles. He is our best post defender and rebounder. It make s a big difference when he gets in early foul trouble.

Perry is for sure the alpha dog , but Ado is arguable the glue that holds things together esp on the defensive side ..
homework assignment for those that want to do it.. see what the (+ - ) was in the first half when Ado was out with foul trouble..

I'm pretty sure the announcers said they had 15 shortly into the 2nd half. They didn't get too many more after that. I can think of one 3pt shot they hit off an offensive board after that, but not much else.

I really hate it for Carter that he had a bad game. It seems his mind wasn't on team play. I think he can do better and I hope he does because I'm just prejudiced for Legacy Players. Spoon having that many rebounds is impressive considering he had 2 more than Ado (but he also had 14 more minutes thank Ado). His assists / T.O. ratio continues to be solid. Thank you DJ!!! Wow!!! I really am starting to like Woodard more and more too. He just has that "grown ass man" look and he walks that walk.

I feel like DJ Stewart has reliably hit wide open corner 3s over the past few games. We haven't really had anyone consistently be able to do that all season. He obviously did a lot more than that today though.

Another great coaching move by CBH is inserting DJ into the starting lineup. Not many coaches would make that move

Ado has a high Percentage at the Foul Line and does draw alot of contact. His only problem is that he sometimes has weak hands.

There is always a lot of told you so after we win, but the bottom line is this is what this team SHOULD be doing. Look at our guys compared to UT this season. Its a talent no contest. A win in a game like the one coming up at UK is something our program needs really badly.

If anyone knows a team that plays with 100% effort every game for 40 minutes please send me the film and the quote by the coach that says this.... I would love to know

You all can put to bed this team does play and give effort. It’s old , it’s false and it’s played out .. EVERY COACH has to deal with this.. it happens.
Find another excuse .. go back to CBH doesn’t take his jacket off ridiculousness. that holds as much water as the effort take does.

Another fact is this team is 2 last second shots away from being 16-5..

Maybe we make the tourney , maybe we don’t when all is said and done. But if we do get in ( which as of now we are) NO ONE will want to play these guys..

Should be doing?? They are winning.. before the year started if we were 5-3 at this point after the first 8 in league play I would have said probably so..
I don’t expect to win the game Tuesday night. Road game at Rupp means a loss prob more than 90% of the time no matter who the opposing team is

9 ranked teams lost yesterday.. and only one game featured 2 ranked teams vs each other..
Guess they all had lack of effort...

And it waters it down none. A loss at UK doesn’t even hurt us, unless we get blown out..
UK was a dog yesterday , and played at arguably one of the hardest places to play in America against a team that is now 19-2

Look man you don't have to fight every basketball post. Just saying what we've done this season is not some kind of amazing feat with the players we have. Glad we are playing better. Never says I expect a win Tuesday either, but we haven't had a win like that for our program in over a decade. It's much needed and long overdue.

Fight post...? I’m just stating facts. And trust me there are 10x more I told ya so posters just dying too log on after a loss than the so called “sunshine posters”

People do realize that a lot of (most) publications had us finishing middle to lower half of the SEC.. I thought we would better than that, Thought we would make the tourney and thought this team had the chance to be one of CBH more talented teams here.. and it’s Turning out to be that way..

About a third of the way through the second half the announcers were giving stats on 2nd chance points and they had a big advantage at that time. I'm sure they didn't end up with one because we dominated every facet of the game from that point forward

We don't have a lot of depth (neither did our Final Four team), but this team's first 6 or 7 players is possibly the most talented team we've had since maybe the 2004 team.

Exactly. I don't care where we were predicted. We have some absolute studs on this team. Not making the tournament with these guys would be a big let down. Not predicting it to happen, but have the horses to beat this UK team.
