Yeah, 1:20 may be when OM finally had to release the NOA and their response. I'm going to thoroughly enjoy watching their 3:45 moment. It's going to be epic.
Coach, considering Pat Forde broke open the story on the first NOA and detailed the number of allegations right before signing day, you would think he would have a pretty good source here and would be a breaking this news soon. IMO, this story is bigger than the first NOA so there has to be a national writer breaking this in the next 24 hours otherwise it's questionable. Any word on whether a national writer like Forde is on this?
Is he referencing the second hit piece on Freeze with former players being quoted? Or was Steve referencing the 2nd NOA?
The 2nd hit piece. I don't think he's commented on a 2nd NOA yet. Or at least I have not seen where he has.
If this rumor is true, Bjork will resign before the story breaks. (I would think anyway). I mean, you gotta jump ship when your hair and clothes are on fire right?
Let's have some baseball allegations just to make things perfect.
Not to be a stickler, but those are not ruins, that is the newly constructed Death Star 2.0.
Not to be a stickler, but those are not ruins, that is the newly constructed Death Star 2.0. and it was Return of the Jedi.
I want 100 over 10 years.
Sounds fair.
It's a stupid strategy. He should have immediately fired the coaches that were named not only in the NOA but also were named in the texts that were confirmed to be true from Tunsil. This is a dangerous game he is playing and he is going to take everyone down with him (Freeze). This has to be the biggest case of hubris I have ever seen in college coaching in any sport.
You're right. they're all gonna fry on this. It's pretty much over and I think they know it. The only thing i can figure is they realize they've passed the point of no return so they're just going to ride it as long as they can. Especially if there is a second NOA and new allegations, then the whole football staff and AD are all done, they will have to fire the whole bunch. IMO the longer this goes the worse it's gonna be for them. They better hope that this football season is the one they all been dreaming of because after this its gonna be a while before they're even looking down at Vandy again.
And to think...this really went south when Freeze cuddled Tunsil that night that Wilson got beat up. If he hadn't of immediately turned on Wilson and labeled him a wife beater, then Wilson might have taken a buy out form the bears and kept his mouth shut. They probably would have gotten away with most of it if it wasn't for that night and Freeze's big mouth. I guess you have to have a big mouth to house those teeth....
I don't buy the UNM lawyers helping here. They might be able to help in criminal and civil types of situations but when it comes to the NCAA they are going to find out just how overmatched they will be. If you are going to cheat to the level that Ole Miss does, you need to go after former NCAA staffers as your compliance staff. Ask Auburn. That is really the only way they have gotten out of the shit they were in with Cam.
Ironically, they could have fired the coaches named in the NOA/texts, taken a healthy reduction in scholarships (6 over 3), and taken a bowl ban and this all would be behind them. It's not rocket science. I am thinking because they have taken this route they have allowed the NCAA to stick around their campus and find things in track, women's basketball, and now men's hoops on top of the football program. I would hate to be an Ole Miss fan right now. And all of their lieing they have done to their fans is just outrageous.
From a post on this board by Interpolation_Dawg_EX on June, 2nd this year:
http://wkuherald.com/sports/article_...a4bcf6878.html
From the article:
"We have to talk about academics, we have to talk about basketball and we have to recruit," Bjork told the Herald on Friday. "So, to me, until we're contacted (by the NCAA), until we have any more information, we just have to go business as usual and hope that it doesn't become a distraction. He's innocent until proven otherwise.
"All we know is that there was an article. That's it. That's all we know, and that there's pictures. Beyond that, there's nothing else we can do."
Photos of Morton with Shapiro and other Miami assistant coaches in Shapiro's VIP suite at a Miami night club, where Miami football recruits were present, were featured in the Yahoo! report.
Bjork was the Associate Athletic Director at Miami from 2003-2005 and was involved with the hiring process of Haith. Through his relationship with Haith, Bjork met Morton when WKU played Florida International in football in Miami last October.
From my understanding big time lawyers may have mattered under the old system but now the only thing that is negotiable is between aggravated, standard and mitigated circumstance on each violation. When OM has eight level 1 violations and a rumored four more coming means that it is not likely for them to get anything mitigated and more likely for everything to be deemed as aggravating.
Maybe 9 over 3 was actually 9 NOAs over the next 3 seasons?:)
Northern Miss knew of Bjerk's reputation when they hired him, just as they knew the stories of Freezer and the Briarcrest WBB players when they hired *him*! They intentionally hired people who could be a part of their plantation mentality with a side helping of cheating.
Here's something I'm confident of without having any inside info: Bjork and Co. can't fire the coaches named in the allegations because they were doing the bidding of Ole Miss Football.
If Freeze fires Barney Farrar for doing something -- for instance paying Tunsil every month -- that Bjork either had winked at or actively directed him to do, Farrar can bring the whole program down.
There will be show causes... ironically that might work in OM's favor by reducing the leverage of the named coaches
OM is teetering on the brink right now, I think the NCAA is on the verge of proving exactly what was said on this pages: there was a network of boosters coordinating with coaches to offer a wide array of illegal inducements. If that is proven, their penalty will be something close to an order of magnitude greater than the 9 over 3 they were fantasizing about five months ago.

Agreed. And I agree with Clerks that many independent contractors would have been used to complete Death Star 2.0

Someone with Sexton's office likely wrote the Tunsil letter to Freeze that is now being discussed by ESPN. I'm sure people will request it and Freeze will hand it over and it'll be a glowing review of what a great Christian man he is and a total mouthpiece Hail Freezus media ploy. All of this is being orchestrated right now to keep the Sharks at bay while the NCAA finishes their proctology exam in Oxford. Ole Miss is trying to win the press conference while they can still control something. It'll be over soon enough... And I'm fairly confident it's going to b over for a LOT of people involved with OM's athletic department.
Reporter -"Mr. Tunsil, did someone other than yourself write that letter to coach freeze?"
Tunsil - "I would have to say yes"
