I think he wanted to play for Howland, but momma wanted him to stick with Indiana so that's what he did. His coach told him to just go up there and grab the hat of the team he was going to pick and you could hear Davis say "yeah, that's a lot easier."

I'm guessing he ultimately felt more comfortable with Indiana as well. When a school recruits you that hard for that long, it's pretty hard to spurn them for a school that just showed up a few months ago. That's why I always felt like he'd end up at Indiana.

Sounded to me like his mom had no clue which hat he was picking up "make sure it's a good one cause it's for a long time" is what I heard.

This is highly possible too. Just him saying "I'm on a tight leash" to someone off camera seems to indicate that Momma was making the decision. Especially after hearing her say something about "this decision cements the rest of our lives" or something to that nature.
