Pitching change for APB
Make this guy throw strikes. He looks to b wild.
Vick beats out double play, run scores. 2-2, first and third hump up
Great job by Vickerson to get down the line there. That was big. We need Humphreys to bust this open here.
Way to hustle Vick
Fly out to right. 2-2, heading up to top 5th. We take far too many first pitch strikes IMO. Need to attack teams like this. That's how holland got our first hit
Long fly ball for Hump. 2-2 after 4
Well, Humphreys wasn't too far off there.
He's hitting the ball fairly well, just not totally on top of it yet. I think once he turns the corner and starts barreling it up a little better, we're going to see some fireworks.
Our mantra is patience and drive pitch counts up and get into pens. It won't change and it works.
Good to see an opponent finally get called back by the HBP rule. And it really is a good rule, you shouldn't be able to stick your arm out and get 1B.
The State graphics guy strikes again. That was an 0-0 pitch that walked the guy.
Hump got jammed a bit and almost put it to the track. He also crushed his first fly out.
Daniel brown walks one, gets second to fly out, then makes a great play on a slow chopper to himself. Turns two. End of top 5
DP ends the inning, even though we may not have gotten the out at 2nd and definitely didn't get the out at 1st.
Oh well, I'll take it.
Gridley lead off single
Robson back to doing Robson things.
Rea goin deep here. Callin it. Watch.
Rea Ks. The 3-1 pitch was the only thing even close to hittable. The 3-2 pitch was in the dirt, and it was the only pitch of the AB he swung at.
Both runners steal on the K, though. Runners at 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.
Way to make me look dumb rea. Dang
Second and third, one down, Reynolds walks. Chucked for Lovelady
Rain coming down? Looks like it on the feed... Also looks like APB pitcher trying to stall some.
Reynolds got lucky that neither of those last two pitches were called strikes
Lovelady GIDP
Brown is lingo. Little wild right now (still young), but you can see how nasty he is. Low 90s most fastballs. I don't think they've squared a ball yet
That was a horribly played ball by Humphreys. He may need to just stay at DH.
Hump is not good out there!
I'm not really sure why we pulled Brown, unless we just felt like he was at his pitch limit.
Anyway, tarp is coming out. 2 outs with a runner at 2nd in T6.
We need to finish this game. Don't wanna a tie on our record
We've left 9 ****ing men on base through five innings...
Our offense in the past week has look a lot like it did last year- in a bad way. Just downright painful to watch at times. We desperately need to get Collins back and get Humphreys, Rooker, Smith, Holland, Reynolds, etc. going. At least Rea has been hitting the ball pretty well when healthy.
Someone please post restart time when it's announced.
Humphreys is batting .230 by the way with SEC pitching coming on the horizon
Left the game (rain) but here is some stuff I saw
First, daniel brown is nasty. They maybe hit one ball semi-solid, and it was a flyout to right, not deep at all. He's going to be really good.
IMO, we need to be more agressive at the plate, especially against teams like this. Don't like bunting for hits against and Arkansas Pine Bluff. Do that to get something going against vandy. Also would like to see us attack more first pitches. Holland broke up the no-no doing that.
We have really solid plate discipline. That's encouraging.
McCord struggled again. I don't think he should start again until he gets a good outing under his belt. I would try either Houston or Hudson for these games, and go with Laster if Tatum becomes a weekend starter and those two don't get it done.
Left too many guys on base.
Other than that, it was just a midweek game. Not much to read from it. It was a weak opponent in a midweek with not many folks there, not surprised we came out sluggish. Not gonna read too far into the game, other than the raging hard-on daniel brown gave me. Low 90s fastball and a solid breaking ball. Hope to see him a lot on SEC weekends if he can keep this up
He's hitting balls hard tho. His first was a frozen rope that happened to be right at the CF. He got jammed and still almost put one down the right field line deep. I'm not worried. Reynolds has been the opposite. Lots of lazy balls and whiffs. I'm not as optimistic about him finding a groove before sec ball.
