In retrospect, did we choose the best available when we hired Dan?

I think you misunderstood to some degree.

I think they're saying Byrne almost offered Hud the job, but gave Mullen a deadline, and Mullen took it.

And that Byrne made the decision to bring Hud on as an assistant, not Mullen.

it's been kept quiet and was largely blamed as the reason why CDM and Hud didn't work well together. Hud was put on he staff by the Ath Dept. He wasn't hired by Dan.

that's my understanding Smootness, but Hud was hired before Dan.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

I always wondered how Hud ended up on the staff because I know he and Mullen had no connection. Everything really makes sense now knowing all this.

I wish all of our fan base thought this way. Like C34 said, he's had the best 4 years of ANY coach we've ever hired. Give the man some time to continue building. Good lord we have some terrible fans.
