2 days ago you were singing our coaches praises and know it changes over 1 kid?? Like I said you are overreacting my friend. We are going to be okay with or without Guidry or Martin at WR

It's a bad loss, but we aren't ever going to flip Louisiana kids from LSU if they want them. Just isn't ever going to happen. And regardless of how you view it with him decommitting or whatever, a flip is exactly what this situation would be because LSU wanted him early, got a commitment from him early, and stayed after him even after the decommitment. Not even remotely similar situation to Dak or Key.
If we want to win recruiting battles with LSU for top tier talent in Louisiana, the only way we can do it is to identify and offer those kids early before they blow up, and stay on them hard when Mama starts calling. And even in those situations, we aren't going to bat 1.000. That same rule applies to every other SEC school not named Alabama as well.
We aren't always coming in 2nd place for needs. We came in second for needs in 1 position group this week out of all of our targets. We had one of the best days in Mullen's tenure Wednesday in recruiting by getting a bunch of needs. We did want Guidry, but the sky isn't falling. We have some people that have just as much potential as he does on the roster.
Hey Rouge, how is that collection coming for Shotgun? He may need it tonight. Lol
We have to be able to run the ball some or we arent beating Bama anyway. LSU and Auburn are beatable for us they were this past year. You arent beating those teams going in saying well shit we cant run it so chunk it up to our fast WR and get our QB killed. Like I said, We will make our money on the ground, if they wanna take that away our WRs and TEs are plenty good enough to make them respect them. Guidry would have been great but it looks like he aint coming. If we can block we will be good
Do you make it a habit of providing unsolicited advice to people you don't know or have any idea what their emotional state is?
Really odd post & a boarderline personal attack. Be better than this.
But since you asked, I'm good. Just stating why we really needed this guy
Honestly if you thought it was a personal attack I apologize. I meant it with all sincerity. You're right I don't know you at all but your emotional swings on something like recruiting is just odd. Sorry I asked or said anything. Continue with your melt my bad.
Of course we needed him. We lose out on kids we need every year. But on the spectrum of acceptable vs. unacceptable recruiting losses for our coaching staff, a wide receiver who grew up 20 minutes from Baton Rouge who had an early LSU offer isn't even on the radar of an unacceptable or unsurprising loss. Sometimes, your only hope is that the other school doesn't want him as bad as you do. That was the situation here, but unfortunately LSU did want him too. Can't fault our coaching staff or program for it, and constant bitching and moaning doesn't help in any way.
Hey shotgun... we got Thompson and lsu got Guidry. I think we won a pretty big battle with them even if they did come on strong at the end
That's the thing, I'm not melting at all. Yes I care about our program & wish others cared as much as I. I think we'd be better with a higher care quotient. I'm actually extremely objective when it comes to players, but refuse to accept the status quo of college football.
I know your disappointed about this as well, but don't take it out on other people. There are very few things that make me more frustrated than MSU people accepting the status quo & justifying losing. Perhaps that is unhealthy, but I'm ok with that. I want to win
I think this is the part you're missing just because everyone doesn't come on a msg board & wallow in the fact we lost a kid that doesn't mean we care any less than you. I can guarantee you don't care more than me. Equally maybe more naw. Most people I've seen aren't justifying or making excuses we're giving facts on the situation. He's a kid who grew up less than an hour from Baton Rouge, was committed to them once before only de-committing because the coach got fired, & they have a reputation for putting WR in the league. Those aren't excuses those are facts of the situation. Doesn't make us care less, or accept mediocrity, or not want to win. This is America where you have the freedom to say what you want but don't assume you care more because you rant more that's just not accurate.
Ifyouonlyknew, you working on getting back in the red haha
It is a big miss. It might even be a huge miss, as it was a position of great need, and we don't know how good Guidry is going to be. We will need Couch to grow his game tremendously in the off season, and hope there's a surprise with somebody else. I don't expect us to find a replacement for Guidry this late. That's what sucks the most.
lol at this thread. I love how far we've come as a program. Sly used to define "explosive" plays as 20+ yards. We had VERY, VERY few during the season. Dan defines them as 12+ yards and we have quite a few per GAME! Heck, Fitz avg 18 ypr in the EB. Dan knows offense. I'm more pumped at all the gets on D vs losing this kid on O. No mistake, would've loved to have him, but our D is where we can't have misses, bc until Sirmon proves otherwise, it's up to the jimmys and the joes, not the x's and o's on D.
I don't? I realize how much we missed a kicker this year. I realize how much we missed a lock down CB and S depth this year. That's worth MORE than 2 wins. I'm not saying its (Big WR) not important, I'm saying if I were to choose what side the misses come on, I'd choose offense, bc of Dan finding a way to move the ball. Our O didn't suck this year (sans USA). Our D however, was freaking atrocious. You can't honestly say otherwise.
Xanex.
