look like a huge mess
Hey SVD your Clarksdale and Cleveland Cams getting some great shots. And all you Jackson EDers better load up on Water since we know what happens to the Jackson water system during freezes.
looking like temps arent going to be as bad as they thought. Central MS wont go below freezing overnight per NWS. Just cold rain with a high of 38 tomorrow.
Hey SVD checkout your Cleveland Cam. Its covered in ice.
Lots of power outages in North Mississippi.
Woke up to limbs snapping and falling out of trees at 5:30am in the mid delta. Lost power soon after. Glad I don’t have big trees close to my house. Had to go to my dads to work on his generator this morning and overall it seems to be more trees than power lines down. Thank goodness the precipitation is over because much more and a lot more lines would be coming down. Think we are around 75-1.0” of ice accumulation right now so these lines are probably on the brink.
Edit to add: seems we have a couple substations with damage.
Union County is a mess... i can't even walk to the highway 1/4 mile away. Too many downed trees and power lines making it too dangerous to traverse. It may be weeks before we get power out here.
I’ve got 3 inches of ice right outside my front door here in Shreve. No school M/T
Keep in mind that unlike most winter events where it snows or ices and then 2 days later it's 60 outside, we are in for a period of sustained cold for the next 7-10 days minimum. Large parts of western and north MS will be without power and heat that entire time. The true effects of this storm are just now beginning.
Panola and Yalobusha Co looks like a war zone from what I've seen. My parents also said that they heard the MS Delta was hit really hard. Thankfully they just missed it in Senatobia and we thankfully just have ice on the roads and sidewalks in Dallas and not on trees and powerlines.
