I like both boards for different reasons. ED is more sports driven - I like the analysis of the games here. SPS is more like a man cave with more wide ranging conversation, but not nearly as much analysis. I'll add i don't really post much here or there, but probably more on SPS.
The same topics on Lemonis and football happened on the other boards too though. That's not an Elitedawgs thing. I do think the football team struggling and how the football program handled Leach's death hurt traffic and discussion. It was pretty obvious that MSU hired a bunch of the boosters friends and that was after we went through a similar situation with Dan leaving a senior laden team and Moorhead screwed it up. But Arnett and MSU not only made the same mistakes- they made it worse.
I'm hopeful that the Arizona State win will springboard us to a really good season but time will tell.
To me, though, it's more about 20 something year olds not really being into message boards as much in general. And that's really probably true for any team. 20-30 years from now we'll have people that will be like "what's a message board?" Like we have people asking what's a cassette tape now.
I know the arguments were everywhere, didn't mean to imply it was just here. But, I think it did wear a lot of people out everywhere in the fanbase. If SPS was still an Indy, and not On3 and now Rivals I think they would be in a similar spot. Indy boards like this are few and far between now - and you are right about probably being a generational thing. A lot of us in our 50s started on old bulletin boards and listserves 30 years ago. My 20 something kids look at these like they are dinosaurs.
Allot of the super cool - big Dawgs have taken a leave. We can?t compete or compare ourselves to even Ole MS.
We need to give up
I appreciate it. We're struggling hard to find donors and sponsors for our cameras. I'm hoping to put one up next weekend in Hattiesburg, but once it's up we're on an install pause. Still extremely grateful for what we have been able to do with 23 cameras up. Thought we were pretty close to getting some access to state owned towers but that appears to be DOA. But last spring all I heard was we'd never be able to make this work and was a stupid idea. Glad to have been able to prove that stance false.
But if anybody wants to donate or be a business sponsor, shoot me an email at sdorroh@nmscas.org.
We won't stop until we're statewide.
I can relate to this. I think the growing DGAF caused by changing the basic fundamentals of what the sport even is has been severely underestimated, particularly among the 40+ crowd. Some of us are hanging in there, but the passion overall is not the same.
Those shortsighted people that thought you would be turn college football, which WAS the most unique sport in the entire realm of sports, into NFL light would be successful are on a long road to understanding how little of a 17 people give about minor league sports. It'll take a decade or two but it will never be what it was.
And those advocating two super conferences REALLY dont have any long term financial savvy. It'll make millions for a few years and then become irrelevant eventually as people gravitate back to real college football. 50 years from now people will be filled with wonder that schools like Alabama used to win national championships when they're getting their a$$e$ beat in their annual trip to places like Hattiesburg and Lafayette.
