Choctaw Central would blow Prep off the field you say. Choctaw Central beat Northeast Lauderdale 28-7. Tri County Academy in Flora, MS beat Northeast Lauderdale 42-7. And I promise that Tri County Academy doesn’t want to play Prep or Hartfield.

Easy fix, privates just join MSHAA and play it out.
Great game. 19-14 but came down to last 2 minutes. Very good game. Congrats to Hartfield.
That would be a negative as well. It was a defensive game and Prep actually runs up tempo. Prep beat them regular season in a shootout but this was a defensive game and field position. Very good game.
I will preface this by saying that I watched them when they played Magnolia Heights so that could have skewed my thoughts on them, but it seemed like Hartfield would just out athlete everyone and tempo people. I felt the only way to stay with them was bleed the clock.
Did we not offer Kenzi West at Hartfield.
Saw he's committed to Houston.
We did not. He was always a wait and see and if we came back at the end and had a spot we’d offer. I doubt we do it though. We are probably done at WR in the HS ranks. Waiting on the kid from Crowley in TX. I think we will get him. Have seen him play and he is electric.
I hope that is not you MS making these posts. I have some close McComb connections with a couple being some of my best friends. And as a side note- I could still hit a Parklane pitcher pitch for A HR today. 7 of 29 lifetime HS HR's thanks to the shitty pitching from McComb
a town of no-talent ragarms
I know that Prep blew out West Jones and MRA blew out Oak Grove this year and those are legit public school teams.
I guess it's like anything else. Some teams are better than others. The Jackson Country Club schools (Prep, JA, MRA, and Hartfield) can probably at least compete with any team in the state and maybe beat them. Not being able to beat the best team in 7A has always been a weird criticism and I went to a public school.
The fact of the matter is these schools are recruiting and they're probably cleaning out JPS and probably the metro some- I won't pretend I know where all of these schools recruit from or how that goes down- and they've gotten a lot better. Playing a public school isn't a niche thing for them anymore so they're used to it. Look at Jackson State's roster. They have several players from the Country Club schools. I never thought that would ever happen 25 years ago. Prep has players going to Baylor, Duke, Air Force I think and I know we're looking at one of the CB's. Hartfield has Brayland Womack who might be the best in the state in 2026, two guys going to Arkansas, and a guy going to Houston. A public school with that many players going D1 would be able to contend for a state title I would think.
Honestly, I could make a strong argument that Jackson Prep is the best overall football program in Mississippi High School football if you're talking about consistency.
I wish we?d offer Kenzi West. I don?t understand, if he?s equal to some kid from Texas or juco, why not take the local kid? Also the DT from Hartfield London Simmons. These are guys we used to get. He?s a 3 star committed to Alabama with offers from LSU, Florida State, and Arkansas. But we haven?t offered. They also have Reggie Vaughn another DT committed to Arkansas. On top of that you have one of the top players in the nation as a junior in Braylon Womack. Assuming how little we?ve recruited Hartfield, have no shot at him.
