Rewind a couple years and the same folks on here would have been falling over themselves to replace Lemonis with GoTro. Fast forward, now they both need to go.
Message board posters are a fickle bunch...

You're right. We could be fine. The new guy could also suck or not make a Super. It's a crapshoot. And I wasn't advocating for any of those guys. Although I would love Bischel. He's a great personality and those CMU teams he had were a lot of fun and were gritty. But I mean that's the pool we're working with. We're not going to be able to go pull Eric Bakich at Clemson or Tom Walter at Wake. You might could get Chris Pollard at Duke, but I personally don't want him. Just a personal preference though. Your pool is slightly better if Lemonis leaves on his own than is fired. But to think we're going to get a Tadlock, McDonnel, or Schloss type hire like last time is based in looney land.
But again, WE DON'T HAVE A JOB OPENING
Who has said that we will?
All I'm saying that is Lemonis has underachieved thanks to his teams having poor baseball fundamentals/IQ, as well as making very questionable in-game decisions. On top of that, he just finished up the 2nd worst 3-year stretch in the last 50 years for us.
I think we can and should expect more, and that if our job becomes vacant (however that happens), there are plenty of guys out there who would probably do a better job. Is it a guarantee? No. But with recruiting having turned into a money game for the vast majority of high schoolers and transfers, the primary question is whether coaches are good tacticians and developers of talent.
Vegas I always like your posts, but what is it today man? Ease up.
You are twisting posts. I said the portal would help and so would Parker(helping).
How are you getting all these responses on my comments?
You brought up Haire.....not me...then you post again asking why didn't I bring up other coaches first.
I say The portal and Parker will help a new coach , and you twist that also.
I'm not trying to twist. I'm trying to bring logic into this. We're trying to replace a guy who hasn't been fired. We're pre firing him. And most of the reasons I've seen for a new guy's success center around Parker staying. It's crazy to me. I mean if Parker is so damn important, which I tend to believe he is, then hire him.
But we're not hiring anyone, because we don't have an opening right now.
Fine, but I don't think anyone here is thinking we're likely to hire Vitello. It's "mid-major roulette" for us most likely.
We know what we have in Lemonis if he stays - our NIL and fanbase will probably portal him a roster that's good enough to make a Regional. It will play sloppily, and his in-game decisions will be head-scratchers. We'll end up underachieving (maybe missing a Regional altogether, maybe getting one, but at a lower seed than we should), and we'll all be very disappointed a year from now.
If we replace Lemonis with Haire or another successful mid-major coach - our NIL and fanbase will probably portal him a roster that's good enough to make a Regional. So the question is whether the replacement underachieves like Lemonis will. I think that's unlikely, and there's just not a lot of downside risk in having a new coach. It's not a guarantee, but nothing ever is in sports.
Again it's a non issue right now. We have a coach. If Lemonis jumps, then we can start the conversation. I also believe Haire would be near the top of any realistic list. Doesn't mean I think he's automatically destined for success. I don't think he is. I think he would struggle initially. Guy hasn't made a Super. I think you're just hiring Lemonis 2.0. Solid coach, and if he's brought the talent he can win.
6 seasons
Never made Omaha
Losing SEC record
Missed Regional twice
I think that's the question. And like you said, there's no guarantee. I mean everyone was proclaiming Lemonis a Top 5 coach after 21 and now 50% of the fanbase wants to fire him. It's all about the roster. Vitello was crap until he got buy in that bought him a great roster. And even with a great roster, he's won 1 game in Omaha in 2 trips. Lemonis has won 6.
