OM plays the game better. That simple. They've been organized since Vaught and never wavered. They also hit the biggest stroke of luck they ever hit when they hired Eddy O. He was a terrible HC there, but he showed them how to recruit in the new age of college football. He taught them the tricks. They kept those with them through Nutt and Freeze. And when Kiffin got there and it was legal, it was full steam ahead.
We've been semi organized since Jackie, fell apart under Croom, got really organized under Dan, and then Cohen killed it with letting his baseball boosters run everything and influence the decisions. So we're back to getting things organized again in a world where paying players is not only legal, it's encouraged.
If Lockhart signs great.
If not, take his money and go get two veterans out of the portal that can help you immediately. We need help all over the field for 2025, and Lockhart, while he may be great in the future, is not an impact guy in 2025.
It's not the end of the world.
Like I have said, David Turner was a really good coach in the early and mid 2000s. Unfortunately by the time his second stint came around in 2013, he was past his prime. Then our buddy buddy boosters decided they needed to bring him back again because he recruited Jeff and coached Chris Jones. Both lies. The heavy lifting on Jeff was done by Tony Hughes and Dan. And Chris had flashes at State but was not the Chris Jones of today until he got to the NFL.
Lockhart to OM. A loss no matter how you look at it. Whether it is a big loss remains to be seen. I imagine this frees up two additional spots because the older Lockhart and Clark will be transferring out of all likelihood.
