A few of things:

1. The Ferrie miss was massive in hindsight.

2. We are going to win 5 no matter who the QB is, go with Kamario and see what he can give you at this point. Shapen is not going to win you any games and he may well lose one. He is the better QB at the present moment but Kamario has a much higher ceiling. You are not making the playoffs anyways so play Kamario and see what he can do well, needs to work on, etc so we know for next year.

3. Hutzler has improved by leaps and bounds and so has our D but our inability to wrap up late cost us. We would have had them 4 and 3 or 4 with the game on the line and we let the WR weasel out of it to a 1st down.

4. If Manning picks off the Hail Mary we may win. There was nothing but green grass ahead and he had a 10 yd head start on anyone who could have caught him.

The D played great. But they also got 42 hung them and on TN last touchdown drive couldn?t make the plays to keep TN out of the end zone. Not sure how that?s any different than Shapen not scoring in OT.

Agreed that hail Mary was a missed opportunity

I agree with you guys that Shapen is the better QB overall, but he is at his ceiling and Taylor’s RS is burned. Why not just let him start? He’s going to grow and Shapen is going to go. If we’re playing for the future, what does it hurt?

They got 27 hung on them. And 20 in regulation. Tennessee had 2 defensive TDs. Our D played well enough to win by 3 TDs. The O Line pass blocking and Shapen lost that one.

Respectfully SVS, Lebby needs to impose discipline and clean up the mistakes. Roll with Blake, get to 6 and go bowling. We can still get there. KT is not ready.

Apparently you did not either. They gave up 20 in regulation. It was 34 all at the end of regulation and we had given them a pick 6 and a scoop and score.

I do not disagree about the discipline thing. We have far too many penalties, and back breaking ones at that, but Shapen is not going to get us 6 unless he elevates his game to a level we have never seen from him. He is what he is at this point, a game manager. He would be the perfect QB for the 2015 Bama team, but he is not for the 2025 Mississippi State team.

And I am not trying to come down on Shapen. I said earlier he is the better QB right now. But play the potential. You are not making the playoffs and you are going to win 5 no matter what. Play Shapen next week at A&M and let him have his swan song and then make the switch in the bye week.

We should at least see a lot more KT. Our OL actually run blocks pretty well - lean into our strength and have KT/Fluff/Booth run with short throws and occasional deep shots. KT would mitigate some of our OL pass blocking issues with his mobility too. Our offense would probably be at least similar to what we have now, and definitely better in the redzone.
