did he wave him on or give him the "stop" sign?
did he wave him on or give him the "stop" sign?
B3, top of the order up for Cal - C Caleb Lomavita. Last time you saw a leadoff catcher? 4-8 on the weekend, works a 1-2 count, fouls a couple back, grounds one to 3B, Alford throws it, great save by Hancock at first, out, 1 down.
We seem to be overly aggressive on the basepaths with our slower runners. I like being generally aggressive but you gotta leave Hines at second with one out there. Keep the pressure on the pitcher.
CF Rodney Green at bat, absolutelly crushed one to right, solo HR, State up 4-3, 1 down.
Gartman gives up yet another dinger......He gives up a ton of those but at least he's not walking them in.......
SS Carson Crawford, draws a walk on 4 pitches
Our pitching is atrocious
Foxhall out to talk with Gartman
1B Peyton Schulze at bat, K's swinging, 2 down
Well, not that it would matter but Stinnett must be out..........
DH Luca Bove at bat, quickly falls behind 0-2, runner steals second, throw just off a bit. Cal has Daniel Colwell warming in the pen, Bove flies out to left to end the frame. After 3, State up 4-3
T4, State up 4-3, RF Kellum Clark leads off, works a full count, hammers one to deep center, the center fielder makes a great read and play catching the ball at the wall, 1 down.
Clark stroked it deeep but needed another 10 feet in cf. Damn
Forsythe at bat, works a full count, check swing ball 4, walks
Cal meeting on the hill, signaling to the pen
Cal brings in LHP Danial Colwell
Colwell pitched on Friday, 1.2IP, 1 hit against OU
Larry up, runner at first, grounds it up the middle, right to 2B, steps on the bag, throw to first pulls 1B off, Larry safe.
3.2 4H 4R 2ER 2BB 1K is the final line for Cal pitcher Bougie - two errors by Cal's defense led to two runs. 62 pitches, 37 or which were strikes.
Looks like State has Nate Dohm in the pen walking around.
Ledbetter at bat, 2 down, Larry at first, steals second, throw got away from SS covering, Ledbetter grounds directly to 2B, out. Middle 4th, State up 4-3 - the first half inning either team has not scored.
Forsythe should have been called for interference at second on review. Got lucky. This team seems to have low baseball IQ, lots of little things we don?t do well. We used to be a program that would out hustle and our coach other teams. We?d find ways to win games against teams that had the big recruits. Now it seems like we get better recruits with big arms and big bats we?re finding it hard to translate that into wins. We need to find that blue collar grit that was epitomized by players like Mangum, Sims, and TA.
Ledbetter has been terrible this weekned......He's not even hitting anything hard........
State has stranded 4 through 4 innings.
B4th, Kretzschmer at bat, walks on 5 pitches. He crushed one to RF his last at bat.
Kretzschmar steals second
2B Max Handron draws a full count, draws a walk, 2 on nobody out.
LF Jag Burden at bat, shows bunt, bunts to the pticher, out at first, runners advance. 1 down.
Our Pitching is all mental. Tons of talent. The mental aspect is spreading throughout the whole pitching staff. Beginning to grow on the newcomers as well. Whatever Foxhall is doing is not working. Get someone in here that can get these guys heads right.
Dom Souto at bat, grounds to 3B, out at first, RBI. Game tied at 4.
C Caleb Lomavita at bat, runner at second, 2 down, Gartman hits him, 2 on, 2 out.
CF Rodney Green at bat, Gartman gets ahead 1-2, ball gets away from Highfill, runner to third, count goes 2-2, dirtball results in a full count. K'd looking on Gartman's 95th pitch.
Dohm is ready in the pen. Why are we not bringing him in? Lemonis consistently does this. Waits for the damage before making a move.
T 5th, Colwell still pitching for Cal, Chance flies to center, 1 down
Hancock at bat, walks on 4 pitches. Cal has Tyler Stasiowski warming.
Alford at bat, he's hitless on the weekend, Hancock at first, hits it hard, but right to short for a made to order 6-4-3 double play to end the frame. Middle 5th, tied at 4.
Nothing pisses me off more that a first pitch out by the lead off guy in the inning followed by a 4 pitch walk to the very next batter.
I'm not sure about the talent......Sure there's some younger talent but there's not a lot of talent in the upper classmen......
