I heard he’s close to getting called up but I don’t watch these things.

6th and 7th rounders have around a 30% chance of making a roster according to this

Dude, the saints have given out 10 UDFA contacts this afternoon headlined by this one...
Major UDFA deal for Rashid Shaheed. The WR/return specialist received $222,000 guaranteed from the Saints.
...
Have you followed the draft before? So confident, and so wrong
ETA... today teams are handing out UDFA contracts and rookie tryout invitations which have no guaranteed money. The saints handed out 10 contracts and 6 rookie tryout invitations.
Lol. The job of his agent is to find teams that need a wide reciever,
So no he has not signed a. O tract on the weekend of the draft. I’m sure he will though. Lol
Just think, some of you shit heads bashed his coach for saying he made a mistake leaving ...hmph
Odds of him making one are extremely low. I said odds are, not that he can't or won't. But it's a major long shot. And not being able to help special teams will hurt too. He's frail he's not going to be a gunner and he's too slow to be a return guy so it's wr or bust.
He’s going to make it as leading reciever in the sec. special, teams are a non factor. I’d put the odd of him making an nfl roster above 90%.
Ryan Davis 2017
Kalija lipscomb 2018
Both led the sec in receiving. Neither made an nfl roster. Lipscomb has made a PS.
Fred Ross was 2nd in sec in receptions and 4th in yards for us in 2015. He too was not drafted, and he never made the 53-man roster. He made the PS before being cut during his first season.
Your 90% number is a joke. 5th rounders don't make rosters at that rate
Already mentioned it a few times if you go back, but he doesn?t have above average size, speed, or route running. The first 2 are physical and won?t change, the route running is a product of our middle school offense we just don?t let receivers learn the full route tree here. He caught 100 balls and led the SEC in receiving this year and didnt get drafted. Not much left to prove or showcase. As I said earlier maybe he sneaks into round 6-7 if he came back, but NFL doesnt have interest in receivers who aren?t above average at at least one of the 3 traits.
He would have benefited coming back by getting a free degree
Couple of things:
He needs to make a smart decision and pick a team he has the best chance to make the roster rather than the team that offers the most money.
Correct, he wasn?t going to get much ?better? with another year at MSU but he might have made some incremental improvement and put more tape out and with a potentially weaker wr class maybe he?s a 4-7 pick.
Hopefully he graduated and got his free degree as that and a potential free graduate degree would be worth something.
Simone brought up Fred Ross and I think Fred was a better wr than Polk and he couldn?t make it. I really thought Fred could carve out a role as a WR 4/5 for some teams.
Now Polk is a UDA that isn?t going to help on special teams probably. Odds are stacked against him but hope he makes it
I don't worry about kids making decisions anymore. They've got to live with it, not me. It's like I tell my kids, don't make a decision you can't overcome. Otherwise, live your life your way. Good luck to him.
If all those guys, plus De'Runnya Wilson and probably Makai Polk, aren't good enough for the NFL, the NFL should have more teams.
The US population has grown by more than 15% since the NFL expanded to 32 teams in 2002. We need some expansion to contain the higher pool of talent.
What’s a joke is you comparing 5-9 Ryan Davis and his five touchdowns to Polk. You are just throwing crap out there to argue. How is Davis remotely comparable to Polk as a wide reciever ?
Ok loudmouth when Polk makes an nfl roster , I will be sure to remind you. Carry on arguing with yourself.
Think about ole miss. They had six guys go undrafted
One thing more concerning than Polk landing on a roster is the lack of MSU players being draftee. This is the 2nd year in row that we have had only 2 players drafted. Since 2010 we have had only 2 years, 14 and 17, we have had had less than 3 drafted. And next year who is even on the radar? Is it our player development, Scheme or just lack of talent? Even with the new NIL kids do look at this. I hope this is not a bad trend
Bingo. There is absolutely no reason to force a football player out of college if he doesn't get drafted. Basketball either. Baseball has it correct. Everyone is draft eligible, they have leverage to get a better contract if they have another year. Teams know which players are coming back or not. It is much easier.
