You're right, but any time a team's 3 weekend starters don't pan out for whatever reasons, it's not good. 99% of teams wouldn't survive. We can but it'll be interesting.

I don't share your pessimism, but I definitely understand it.

I think we lose a lot of Friday night games, but our bullpen is deep enough to get us through a bunch of Saturday/Sunday games.

We've got enough arms that we could limit every pitcher to one time thru the order. Bednar is coming back at some point. Still have Stinnett and Cade Smith that haven't pitched yet. The plan and execution vs USM on Wednesday was perfect. I think the move is to go with something like that on weekends.

Why do college baseball umps have to be so horrible? That 2nd strike on Cumbest was over on the opposite batter's box line. Turned an obvious 3-1 count with the bases loaded into a 2-2 count where Cumbest had to protect on a diving breaking pitch.

It's really bad, but at least it's consistent. We've benefitted from his horrible calls tonight, too.

I think that's a good point. The 3 starters really don't have enough equity built up to hold on to their starting roles for very long.

If Brandon Smith started this game it would be 1-0. Macleod has looked like a midweek reliever this season. Sims, Smith, Fristoe (or Bednar if he gets healthy and proves he isn't horsesh*t) would be a decent weekend lineup.

I mean, our ace has been awful this season. Our Saturday guy can't throw strikes. Our Sunday guy hasn't pitched an inning this year.

Nobody is worried about this game. I'm sure we'll win, too. If we lose it really doesn't matter, but there is reason to be worried about our starting pitching.
