Man, y?all are crazy if you want Hubbard back. Dude is a liability. No defense and he shoots about 30%. I?m tired of seeing the MSU media put out instagrams about his ?highlights? while we lose constantly.

He would certainly have to take a pay cut to go to Florida. All guards that have played at Florida have been at least 6'1" the last 2 years. They have klavzar this season who comes off the bench at 6'1". They mostly have 6'4" type guards
ETA... and you take this way too personally. College sports have become more like pro sports than ever bc of the money issue. All teams have to weigh how much of your money can you give to certain players. Hubbard is great volume scorer, but 3 million for him is obscene
ETA2... as hoops said earlier, we don't know all the details though. 3 million for Josh may not be there for someone else. If this is the case, that certainly changes things
Lol... UF would take Josh in a heartbeat. Literally 99.9% of teams would. Maybe not at $3M, but like I said... he should take a pay cut and go out in style. Put up amazing stats that actually mean something
We have a whole lot of restructuring to do to the roster, coaching staff and style of play. If Jans doesn?t adapt to modern basketball and put forth effort in the transfer portal he?ll be gone in a year.
For reference, haugh leads Florida is shooting with 357 attempts. Josh has missed 325 shots this seasons. He's missed more than Florida's #2 in shots has taken.
We will do everything to keep Josh at State- dont be confused about that for one second. We want him to be the State Goat.
We have to be smarter about who we surround him with. We have some good young talent that cut their teeth this year. But we need a legit 2 with size and a 5 that can ball. The rest is just noise
Josh should leave bc Jans has proven that he CANNOT surround him with talented players. We had the worst talent of any SEC team, but if we didn’t have Hubb we would have finished dead last in the SEC. Yes, Josh owes it to himself to take his talents to a better program where he can average 15 and 5-7 assists per game and win! Then maybe some of you will see just how “good” Jans is when he has to build it from scratch!
I think 95% of state fans (and I'm in this group) want Josh back. I just want Josh back at less than 3 million bc we need a more complete team
I played a lot of basketball growing up. It was my sport. I like Hubbard he is a baller. As others have said at 3mil for a short guard that can’t play D because of his height is way too high. I also have not watched much MSU basketball this year as in years past I watched or was at every game. NIL/portal ruined the game for me.
The ideal situation would be for Jans to get the Kansas St job and for us to pull Bob Richey. He and Bucky McMillan were who we should have targeted from the get go
And Hubbard would walk right out the door with Jans. Also, for reference, you are saying you would have hired Bucky McMillan in 2022 after two years at Samford in which he did not make the tournament and was a combined 27-24? Reminder he was a HS coach before that.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but we were not embracing NIL and you would be wanting to bring in a coach in late March that had very little college experience.....it would've been a disaster. And I like Bucky and think he's a good coach. But he was still learning how to be a college coach at that time. Last year would've been the time to do it if you were going to do it, which is why he was hired last year and not in any of the previous years.
There’s a former player that knows Bucky and agrees with you.
I mean there's no other way you can look at it except guess. We don't know that Bucky McMillan would've been better than Chris Jans. What I do know is that if you would've hired a coach that was coming off a 21-11 year with no tourney appearance and a 10-8 conference record over a coach who had just went 27-7 and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAAT then to say you would've been criticized heavily is an understatement.
Bucky McMillan was a HS coach that Samford took a MASSIVE risk on. It paid off for both him and Samford. But two years in you couldn't tell people it was going to work. Hell in this new era, I still don't know that he'll work out at A&M. People were calling Todd Golden a massive failure after his 1st year and an average coach after his second and he's went 61-10 with a national championship since. On the inverse, people were singing the praises of Lamont Paris from the rooftops after year 2 about how he'd brought back South Carolina and he's 25-39 since and is lucky to have a job.
Auburn is the team that really missed out on Bucky by Pearl waiting to late to retire and basically making it a shoe in for his son to get the job. Jans job is safe and I am hoping this was his Dennis Gates 23-24 year. I really do like Jans and I think he is a good coach, he just needs to learn to evaluate the portal better.
Yep. Bucky would've crawled to Auburn to have that job and I had always heard that was a job he openly coveted. I have no clue why that fan base has not completely turned on Bruce Pearl. He caused this season they are having by not stepping aside sooner so they could conduct a coaching search. He knew his son was a crappy coach and knew he wouldn't get the job if he didn't force them into hiring him.
