Duke headed for the Sun Starter.
Agree, Duke Stone may be the new Sunday guy. Looks in command.
Can't seem to buy a 2 out hit with RISP today.
Please get Rhodes out of there.
They teaching catchers to play on their knees with bases loaded now a days?
I?m not taking much away from that game outside of a win. That?s the worst wind I?ve ever sat through.
Davis looks like the best pitcher we have. He actually should be the Friday guy. Butttttt- having a guy like that on the back end to lock games down from the 7th on is valuable also. But it?s still having your best pitching only 2-3 innings per weekend. Is that the best way to do things? We?ll see
Nobody.. and I mean nobody... likes playing baseball in the cold. Nobody wants to hit. Nobody wants to catch a ball. It's not fun at all. It's not a sport where you are moving around alot and staying warm.
I'm not putting much into the game performance today. Cold, windy day where the players really aren't engaged and just praying they don't get jammed or hit one off the end.
Adding: Pitching on the other hand is a little different. You're moving around and staying relatively warm. Not many excuses for Foster. He just hasn't been sharp. Still really early in the year tho. We are 8-0. That's hard to do in baseball regardless of competition. If you can win on your bad days then you're doing something right. Our starting pitcher gave up 2 early. Stone comes in and shoves. We got out of 2 bases loaded jams without surrending a run. Committed some errors but still managed to keep Delaware from crossing the plate more than us. Had some base running blunders that's head scratchers but there is way more positives than negatives when you still manage to win. Hail State!
Just goes to show how deep we are. I agree with you.. but they must see something we don't. Davis is solid. He may end up in a starting role. It feels good when he comes out the pen.. you know you're usually about to get a solid performance. It would also feel good with him as a starter lol in Parker and O'Connor I trust.
Once the rubber meets the road the rotation will be the best three pitchers
Ben, Tomas, and Duke
The SEC is not showcase ball or A-ball. There is no "Oooh" and "Awwwe" for electric pitches. Winning games is all that matters. We don't care about draft buzz.
MSU does have a great pen it seems:
Webb, Pitzer, Sweeney, McP, Gleason with McP, Foster, and Burns getting better fast.
I think Mac needs to stay in the rotation. I think he will get better week. Foster just isnt there yet and it was very discouraging watching him not make any adjustments out there. Just high FB after high FB. **** Dude- bounce one if you have to but make a damn adjustment. Talent is there but the results arent and down the ladder you go.
8 down. 47 to go.
That's something I just can't understand. I understand how hard hitting is.. especially at D1 level. Juco was hard enough so I can only imagine how hard D1 is. Fielding.. eh. Errors happen. But I'll never understand why pitchers can't adjust and atleast change vertical and horizontal location. I get everyone has off days and may not can spot it where they want it. But constantly missing in the same spot really erks me.
And I'm not criticizing the kid or trying to act like I'm a coach/guru. Obviously the kid was trying to locate better. I just never had problems adjusting up/down or side/side so I don't get it. I also wasn't a college pitcher either so there's that. Lol
