Every time you bring this up I laugh the whole time reading it. It would be such bad TV but dang from a football perspective you cannot argue it.
This AND a better 4th down IQ. That may not happen until we get an OC. Lebby needs to learn to think like a HC. Right now, sure he wants tonwin. But ONLY win HIS way. I hope he will grow, but I'm not sure he will. He always defends every decision. He's not learning. Maybe it's just coach speak and he really doesn't believe everything that he spouts off defending some really low coaching IQ decisoons.
I don?t think Odom has won a big 10 game this year @ Purdue. They have an easier schedule too. Would have been the same results with that hire as with Lebby if not worse. He is a good DC and coach at place like UNLV but I don?t see him being a good P4 coach
I think the inability to allocate the necessary players will be the biggest reason Lebby won't make it. I havent seen anything to believe we can do this as a program. Making matters worse is 4 SEC teams with new coaches are going to clean out the portal leaving us with dry crumbs.
I think if we tried it the odds are it would work about as well as anything else we tried.
The whole premise is this would work because we are "bigger" than our opponents but in the SEC the issue is the players are both big and fast. The only logical way to counter it is to be big and fast ourselves.
BYU and Tech play in the Big12. Maybe State should try that.
We literally brought an OC to be our HC from the big 12
Well let's just take a random schedule, say TCU's schedule. We'll keep our non con the same and sub UNC for ASU since ASU is in the Big 12. They also have 9 conference games so I'm taking out Northern Illinois
@USM-W
UNC-W
Alcorn-W
@Arizona St-I think we lose this in Tempe. So L
Colorado-W
@Kansas St-L
Baylor-W
@West Virginia-W
Iowa St-W
@BYU-L
@Houston-L
So yes, I believe we'd probably be a 7-8 win team in that league. And I'm giving us a couple of L's where I think we'd get a win.
