Who would've thought a first time HC paired with a first time DC would struggle in the SEC
Let?s look at it this way:
Had to buy a whole new ol
New Qb
A couple WR?s
Whole TE room
Whole interior DL
New Safeties
One Corner
And whoever decided to bring in Blanton needs to wear concrete shoes in the reservoir. Kid has zero business being on a sec team. To small plus to slow. The only stops we got last night was when he was on the bench.
At the end of the day it goes back to what Saban said week 1 on game day. If you spend 20 million on the wrong ones you are shit out of luck.
This is the truth. They suck so bad there is no way this offense can get going if they don?t improve. I don?t see them running into each other in he back field so I assume they are going in the right direction. But they can?t block or move anyone. They are pathetic. So in turn, the O is pathetic.
Saban said right, once the portal closes, you got who ya got. And we got a pile of shit. Every kid out there thinks they deserve money and most don’t deserve a damn thing. It’s cost money just to fill a team out it seems. I don’t see but a handful on this team that needs something
The coaches. No doubt about it. I’m not saying it isn’t. I don’t know if they got who they really wanted or had to settle. NIL world absolutely sucks for us. Saw it coming when it first came out. I thought Pounders was a win but apparently not. The whole unit looks terrible. But if we fire every coach in year one, I can with 100% certainty be sure we will suck every year. Now I think a coach needs to show some type of improvement each year to the program to give you hope. Guess we will see, but in this now society, no one has the patience anymore.
Also, why should they be better? There are no guarantees the players you bring in will be better. You are just hoping they are.
need another OL coach as bad as anything else. arky couldn't block for sh*t last year and now he is here..........
Yep!

Pay him $800k and go get him!
Dude do you think WRs didn?t block in the air raid? You are holding on to one play where tulu was lazy (yall blamed leach for him not getting the ball more, turns out there was a reason) and got a kid hurt. The yacht club and Keenum killed MS State football. Brag about that
And it is absolutely hilarious to see that our best play in the showtime offense is four verticals. A leach standard. All we have done now is add a slow ass play fake to it
You can blame Mullen, Moorhead, Leach, Arnett, Lebby, Brad Peterson, Steve Campbell, Will Friend, Kevin Barbay, Dave Emerick, Matt Dudek, Keenum, boosters, or whoever the hell else you want to blame and you would probably be right to a certain extent on each one of them. But everyone is missing who this blame should always fall at the feet of....John Cohen. He backstabbed a lot of people to get the AD job and then gutted the program of any hype the minute he walked in the door so he could move it all to baseball. Hell he hired a philanderer to be his replacement just so he could have a plan so he could get the AD job. Had he done any digging into Cannizarro's past that stuff would've come out. And I like Andy btw. Still do. Think he's a hell of a baseball coach and a hell of a recruiter. Not the best human, but a fun guy to have a few drinks with. He was late to NIL because he tried to make sure baseball had the only NIL. Hell he actively fought against the Bulldog Initiative until he realized that the baseball team would suffer if he didn't let it succeed. This guy single handedly tried to gut the athletic dept FOR 17 BASEBALL. A sport that runs at near deficit or deficit every year. I understand we have passionate baseball only fans, but even they know what pays the damn bills. John Cohen will go down as the worst AD of our time. And yes, that includes Larry Templeton.
I remember someone saying we offered Dan more money to stay but he still left. I'm curious how much more we offered. We should've dang near let him name his price to stay here.
We offered to put him in the top 5 in terms of salary. He just did not want to work with Cohen. He told us in October of 17 that the 17 season would probably be his final year in Starkville. I mean people still get irrationally mad at Stricklin for "stealing" him from us. Hell he was going to Tennessee if Florida wouldn't have swooped in at the 11th hour. He had already talked with Peyton Manning on Tuesday of that week and had a meeting scheduled with Currie over the Thanksgiving weekend to iron out the details. I knew walking in to Davis Wade on that Thursday night of the Egg Bowl that Mullen was coaching his last game in Starkville.
Mullen talked to Tennessee twice, Miami twice, Minnesota, Maryland, and then finally Florida
We'll agree to disagree on that one. They may respect each other and are cordial, but I don't think they are voluntarily ever hanging out with each other. You are right about Mullen trying to leave most years though. He was definitely especially active after 14. Actually thought he had the Miami job after the 15 season and I think the Maryland job was on the table that year or right around there as well. Was also heavily considering either the UCONN or Colorado job after 16 season.
I know he politicked hard for that Florida job each and every time it came open
I never got that confirmed from anyone. I know there were more than a few people who wanted Billy gone. Hev was a huge jackass but he could develop OL like none other so he always was going to stay. And Hev's guys, the OL, LOVED HIM. They would've taken a bullet for him. Because he would've done the same for them. Now, if you weren't in that room or you were an outsider, he probably wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. I think that's why a lot of our fans didn't like him. He wouldn't BS with recruits. He would tell them what they were doing wrong. Also, he was quite prickly towards our fans.
we need another O line coach cut from the same cloth
Good lord, he wanted greener pastures to win a NC. He was rich and knew he couldn't do it at State so he left for UT, er... I mean UF (would've left for either... with his BEST State team returning). And don't bring up the fluke 2014 year... we were equally as bad at the end of the season as we were good at the beginning and mediocre in the middle.
And do yourself a favor and look through the archives of ED. You'll find that by 2016, the majority posting on here were ready to part with "Mr. win 4 OTC games and beat up on Vandy & UK". He was thought of as an underachiever with a "country club" coaching staff that hated recruiting. Oh, but revisionism is alive and well on ED.
ETA... "Good Lord" wasn't just meant for your post, but the plethora of one just like yours.
Hev was working at Home Depot last I saw
