Considering he didn't return kicks here, he doesn't count. But he was a great qb w not much talent around him
Derek Abney......Oh don't punt it to Abney!
He would be great in today's offense. May be the best athlete to ever play QB at Msu. No doubt he had not much help, IF he wouldn't have had injured his shoulder against Bama in Jackson his junior year, we beat them that day. He was unstoppable till his injury occurred that day.
Glen Young.
Glen Young, Tony James, Eric Moulds, Kevin Prentiss, Tulu.
A forgotten guy who would have probably should be on this list is Leon Berry. If he hadn't quit to focus on track I think he would be thought of more.
He is still #4 in the SEC in career kick return average, and tied with Prentiss for most MSU KR TD's at 2.
That McDole kid was pretty good too at whatever he did.
Go watch footage of what he did to UT in '85. We beat them in Knoxville. We then proceeded to lose our last 5 games and finish 5-6.
Glen Young, Danny Knight, Tony James, Kevin Prentiss, Jameon Lewis
You're thinking of 86. We didn't play Tennessee in '85. We did beat them up there on TBS in 86. We were 6-1, ranked as high as #13, and then lost to Auburn, Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss to finish 6-5 and miss a bowl. In 85 we were 5-2, and lost our last four to the same teams as 86 to finish 5-6 and 0-6 in the SEC.
Pegues return was big in an Egg Bowl with 2 loser teams playing out the final game of the season.
Young's return put us back up in a game in which we were still chasing a Sugar Bowl- as they even mention in the telecast. Not to mention our beating LSU kept them out of a bowl game that season as they finished 7-4
Yeah I get it and know the season and the surrounding narratives. That was in my era too. My only issue is we were going to beat LSU that day regardless. It did showcase how good Young was but the Peagues run won the egg bowl in dramatic fashion. Peagues couldn't hold a candle to Young on returns though.
JO Doss "The Hoss" and Glenn Young......just can't get much better.....
