I don't see it.

Gun - they don't need as much offense when their defense is that good.
One of the best SEC CHAMPIONSHIP games I ever saw was UGA-BAMA a while back. Hard hitting and tough.
There was a disconnect for Moorhead here. Oregon's QB this year is basically the equivalent of KT but what the hell was he even trying to do here? He had an all time defense and an NFL running back.
Not really. Looked really similar to what we did when he was here. So did the final numbers.
Difference is those guys run his offense well and he has one of the best OL groups in the country.
He will get another chance at HC. He is still pretty young and after a few years, people will forget how bad he actually was at managing a program and just see that his win totals weren't that bad. And in fairness he should get another shot. I don't know that I'd consider him an option if I were hiring for a P4 job, but I'd be willing to give him a shot at a G5 school if he does well as an OC for the next 4 years. He's definitely knkows enough football to be a good head caoch. It's just a question of whether he learned enough from his mistakes at State, and figure out how to fix them.
This is the truth. The chasm between Bama and the others has grown larger and larger over the years. Clemson was able to bottle something with elite QBs in Watson and Lawrence but it took generational talents for them to be able to compete. I really believe Georgia is the only team that can challenge Bama this year.
I believe Moorhead's biggest flaw was that he went from running a program at the FCS level with scholarships advantages, to Penn St and have a generational talent in Barkley. He then came and took over our program that had none of that. It was an even playing field and the athletic advantages he had at his other stops were null and void. I think this frustrated him because he started to believe that he was a play calling wizard that couldn't fail and this is where we saw the problems start to arise within the program.
I hope a 9-3 east team that limps into Atlanta puts a whopping on Saban in the SEC Championship game. That would possibly force Bama to be the 2nd or 3rd seed. Either way, I hope Saban losses in the first round of the playoffs and never recovers and 3 years from now he retires.
I kind of hope it was Mullen that actually gets there and beats him.
There is probably something to all of that, but I think another big issue is he went from being head coach at Fordham, where I suspect the athletes could handle a lot more personal responsibility, to going to PSU, where Franklin took care of accountability, and then came to the SEC and thought athletes would respond to the same approach that his players at Fordham did.
Cristobal choosing who plays for Oregon. For him you gotta block, tackle, and catch the damn football. Moorhead's biggest mistake was starting Kylin over Aeris and letting Fitz get killed all the time. And 2nd to that was not making sure his WRs could catch the damn football. Our WRs look night and day different now when compared to JoMo's WRs and catching the football. Also, now JoMo can focus exclusively on play calling as OC and doesn't have any HC stuff to deal with.
Maybe he'll be a good HC sometime in the future, but even then probably won't be in the Sec.
