And another:
"I wouldn't hold the 1 year as DC at MSU against him
we don?t really know how much control he had there with a defensive minded head coach, and it was just 1 year so he wouldn?t have had time to implement his system much or get many of his guys. Supposedly an elite recruiter, and with good southern connections that will always help."

These guys should just stick to following basketball.
"Sirmon's lone season with the Bulldogs was not overly successful. Mississippi State ranked 110th in the country in total defense, and surrendered the most yards and second-most points of any team in the SEC. Here's hoping that had more to do with the lack of talent in Starkville than anything else."
That last sentence caught my attention. Our five year average for recruiting as of 2016 class is 27th nationally. Louisvilles is 39th. In 2016 alone we were 28th and them 38th. They will have some serious buyers remorse come September.
This is my thought. We all said the same things to ourself last year when he was hired here. We all somewhat spin information to fit what we want to believe.
No spinning Grantham though. I've seen comments about how he will blitz on 3rd down at the wrong time in the game, but I'll take that over our soft coverage, bend but don't break nonsense.
Love how IYOK is telling y'all you're gonna shit your pants when you see who all HEVESY is going to land in this class and some of you still wanna run him outta town. Just wait for the cookie first maybe you'll be impressed
Apologies if this was discussed elsewhere but what is the story on Grantham's salary? I've seen it reported that he was making $1.3M at Louisville and will make $1.1M at State. Is that accurate? Reason he would take less to come to MSU?
Boy if Sirmon didn't like DM, wait till he gets his a$$ ripped by Bobby 'Harley Davidson' Petrino.
I've been told by someone I trust that we're about to close really strong. Seems like things are lining up well.
Is it progress to have a coach that can force a team to 3rd down?***
Looked it up... 3rd down conversion %
Georgia
'10 -- 12th (last in sec)
'11 -- 3rd
'12 -- 7th
'13 -- 9th
Louisville
'14 -- 3rd in ACC
'15 -- 5th
'16 -- 4th
Louisville was 10th nationally in 3rd down conversion % this season. We were 79th.
Louisville was 35th in '15.
Louisville was 10th in '14.
Georgia was 64th in '13
Georgia was 37th in '12
Georgia was 3rd in '11.
Georgia was 79th in '10.
So in 6 years, Grantham was bad in 2 years and 1 was Georgia's move to a 3-4
