Crazy. Miles and Shea's dad both unemployed now. Maybe if Shea went there, they'd both have a job.

It's somewhat possible that it's all on the up and up. They know MGK is good, and barring injury they won't need Patterson this year. The other guy that's played a few snaps looked OK. So maybe they don't want to burn his redshirt. Chances are he'd be gone after 3 years, but it's always possible that he'd put in 4 years there (Dak did, and he's better than Patterson, presumably). Knowing their propensity for cheating, this scenario probably isn't correct, but one never knows. Not sure how they got him without some sort of payments though. Was he on our radar?
The article is just a case of the rebs self aggrandizing. Patterson was committed to OM before the 2015 season and before Les's contract was extended last year. Les signs 5* Qbs, they just never pan out due to lack of development. Patterson has never taken a college snap so who knows if he's a miss for LSU, but there is a good chance he wouldn't have been developed at LSU. Bottom line in my opinion, he was fired for lack of developing a competent QB, not missing on an unproven 5* recruit.
It's not as impressive to pry away a QB from a Les Miles team as it is a 5* DB or DL from Louisuana. Which OM is not doing.
Honest question, is there a possibility that UNM is holding Patterson back so they will have at least 3 full years with the many receivers they already have to get them as far through the supposed oncoming probation as they can??
Maybe Miles thought Shea "didn't necessarily have the chest and ability to lead a program"
