Agreed and that has been why we have had a disappointing season. The chemistry on this team is aweful.
Similar to the stance on recruiting, can we not publicly bash our players considering all the Bear lurkers? I swear we are our own worst enemy most of the time.
Hmm, I don't see that at all. Timmy was extremely athletic and not ready at all to contribute as a true freshman. He was only 6-1 and turned into a really good point guard to go along with all his shooting/dunking skills. Q is a smooth 6-4 wing with average athleticism but very smooth. Timmy was a great defender and Q is behind on defense since Velma always played zone. He's getting better on D though.
Timmy was 6'2. I was comparing Q to Timmys freshman year. I'm saying what I remember of him. Similar looking shots, both follow up their own shots getting their own put backs around the basket. Thought Q looked good on D. Both seem to be gamers and score in crunch time. They definitely much remind me of one another.
Do you see Bowers with that much more athleticism than Q? Maybe he's thinking of Zimmerman.
Q and bowers is a good comparison. And where the 17 is Newman going to go pro this year? Turkey? Ask Mario Austin how the middle eastern basketball league is.
As a 1. And everyone understands he isn't ready, but that doesn't mean he won't go. I can almost promise you, if a team gives them confirmation they will take him in Round 1, he will go. That's exactly what happened with Travis Outlaw. Portland told them if he was there, they were taking him.
Dude is not even going to get drafted at all if he leaves this year. His freshmen year contribution is about equal to Barry Stewart. Was he a lottery pick?
Thats because Travis Outlaw was ready to play the 3 from day 1. He had some things he needed to work on that kept him on the bench a year or two, but he was an immediate contributor. Malik is nowhere close to that as a PG. he has literally not shown a single thing that indicates he can play that position at even the college level, much less NBA. His court vision and penetration ability are both average at best. How much of that is due to injury, who knows?
Thats not saying he won't get better. The light might cut on for him tomorrow, or it might never cut on. But if the draft was tomorrow, there's no way he'd be picked at all. Literally no way possible.
If you actually read my post, I didn't exactly indicate he rolled in like the next Kevin Durant. But he had the raw skills and size that matched him for what he needed to do. Malik has none of that for the PG position, largely because he's never played PG in his career. And in whatever you want to call Howland's offense, he hasn't played it much even this year. If Malik is drafted Round 1 after this year, it will likely be due to his potential to play the 2. And before you even argue that he's too small to play the 2 in the NBA, keep in mind that he's an inch taller and a hell of a lot bulkier than Steph Curry.
Malik is returning next year
