While they wouldn't get into legal trouble, they would fail the drug test, and it's an NCAA rule, so they'd get suspended. On the bright side, lower chance of getting caught if the cops aren't looking for it.

Even in states it's illegal, it's still up to the school how positive weed tests are punished. tbh the fastest way to change weed laws in the south and the middle of the country might be if the Oregon, Washington, and Colorado schools stop testing and players won't get arrested for some weed and there starts to be a tangible recruiting effect.
