Actually, as a regular fan, all those points are the very reason that I dont understand why regular fans leave early. My thoughts are, I drove 2 hrs, paid a ridiculous price.... Might as well watch all 60 minutes.

Who said that Ref or I were going to leave early? Though that puZzy pot pie does sound intriguing...

I verbally abuse anyone that leaves. Why come if you want to leave?
Ive left early twice. Both times it was because I was escorted out.
Thanks Bama fans.
I'm a student. I won't leave. I've also posted thousands of times on a message board about msu sports. Wonder how many sorority girls have done that. Not many people in that stadium care as much as all of us on this board, so bitching about students on here is stupid.
In a student's defense. There are parties to go to. There are other games to see. People to see. Things to do in the junction, district, frat houses. Some students are just that. Students. They don't care about sports other than "did we win". Why stay at 45-7? No reason if you aren't a die hard fan. Those who care, student or not, will stay. Those who don't, won't. Simple as that. Get over it.
I have no problem with masses of fans and even students leaving in a blow out. What gets me is when the student section half empties out at halftime when the game is still very much in doubt. It happens all the time now. THAT doesn't happen much in the regular sections.
I don't like anyone leaving either, but I think the difference the % that leave for students is higher and more noticeable because of the huge block of seats.
"USM Game is Sold Out"
It's been a coon's age since anyone has said that.
No hate, just realism. We kept the student section full longer during the Croom debacle than the current students do during the some of the greatest football in MSU history. That is what we find pathetic. The current students take winning and going to bowls for granted and it makes me want to choke them when they are headed back to the tailgate at halftime. Bottom line is most students take what we have right now for granted, as if there never was anything different and it pisses us older guys who had to endure some really shitty seasons and consecutive years. I wouldn't wish the Croom era on anyone except the Bears. It was horrible, but I never missed a game and never left early. If we can sit through that shit, you current students sure as f*ck can sit entire games now. The bars and tailgates aren't going to disappear before 00:00 in the 4th like cinderallas carriage. Stay your asses in your seats the entire game and you won't hear shit from me and most other on here. We make fun of OM for having empty sections in the 3rd quarter but the student section is starting to look that way more times than not. Just think about that before you head back to the tailgate or one of 4 bars you go to every other night of the week.
I donate more to the school before ticket costs, than it would cost me in tuition each year. Most of it goes to scholarships so people don't have to burden themselves with as much student loan depth.
Let me repeat what everyone is saying. Some of us drive 650 mile round trips every weekend to watch us play. We endured some shitty seasons, but still devote a ton of time and money to the university. You have no idea what it's like to work a full work week and then spend your entire weekend 325 miles away from your home, when you have much more serious responsibilities to deal with than an online assignment or paper due by Wednesday. Students have 0.0000000 excuses to leave the game early. Bottom line is the current student body does not know what it's like to suck complete ass, so you take winning and bowl games for granted. That is the point we are making. Stop taking this shit for granted and show that you care by staying the entire game. How do you think the team feels after a win when they go over to sing the Alma-mater, and the only thing left in the student section is plastic cups and empty fifths? You think that makes them feel appreciated? I sure as hell would feel like my fellow students appreciated what I had sacrificed to give them that win and provide them with a winning feeling and attitude and a sense of pride. Current students only think about the party and themselves, but that is a result of the present day entitlement society. Everyone thinks they are owed something. Start showing your fellow classmates that you appreciate the hard work and sacrifices they make to give you the pride you have, by going to a university with a now consistent winning football program.
If you cannot comprehend what we are saying, I feel for you. That is all.
Neither Ref or I are excusing students for leaving. I think we would both like the overall problem to be addressed which is fans leaving. If you have to address the situation in two different ways for the students and regular season ticket holders then fine. Just don't point the finger at the students and say they are the sole problem.
That is all
That's pretty much correct. There used to be a student activity fee and some of it did I think go to the athletic department, but I'm not sure if that's true any more. But even so, it doesn't touch the donation people have to make to get tickets.
Nobody is acting like it's only the students. I agree that you'd think people paying more for their tickets should want to be at the game more, but the point is, they paid dearly for their tickets so it's sort of up to them what to do with them. I wish they'd stay and cheer the whole game, but it's hard to criticize the people ponying up the money. So there is a huge difference between them and students leaving; their physical support is a much smaller part of what they do for the program than what students do.
Students are very important to our program too. We need students that show up and support our teams, and we student tickets to make sure our students get the bug and want to come back and support our team financially and physically after they leave. But if we can't even get students to stay for the game when the tickets are virtually free, we might as well sell those tickets too and try to get some more revenue from those seats.
The students do care as a whole. They just want to "waste time" watching our second string QB hand it up the gut behind our second string center with our third string RB up 40. That's how it is. Like I said before, there's lots of other things to do on game days that are more fun to the students than break down how Gerri Green is tackling with 6 minutes left against UT Martin.
Y'all complaining on here is pointless. Obviously the students posting on here are part of the contingent that stays the entire game no matter what
Sooooooooo game is sold out. That's good
A group of about ten of us got to the 2004 Florida game at half time and got a damn good seat.
Don't act like we had the student section packed and rocking for every Crxxm game. That's just a lie, even if you personally were there for every minute.
As for the who has a better excuse to leave early debate: neither a student nor an alumnus needs an excuse to leave early. They're free to do whatever the **** they want.
