Gay men playing college/professional sports is a HUGE story throughout the country. It's not like the guy irresponsibly made up something in order to create a stir. We may not like what he did or said, but the man is doing his job. It has always amazed me that we (and most fan bases I'd assume) castrate the beat writers because in the opinion of the average fan, we think he/she should be nothing but a mouthpiece for our school. We've had this argument about beat writer after beat writer for years now.
