And they have a RB from Mississippi who will have a little extra playing us.

He's got it made in Oxford, plus his son is a 10th grader in HS there. In Oxford, everyone is pulling in the same direction and bought in. At OM he can put up 8-4s the next three seasons and still have a job. Plus in Oxford, he's bigger than the program, that's likely important to an egomaniac like him.
UF, firing coaches so quickly, has likely lessened their appeal.
Easy. It's much easier to make the playoffs at Florida. Ole Miss you almost have to be perfect because of the weak schedule. Florida- not to much.
Plus if he wants to send his kid to IMG or somewhere like that it benefits his son more than playing at Oxford HS.
Personally, I don't think Ole Miss could get into a bidding war with Ole Miss without it starting to effect their NIL.
They can get into a bidding war, win it, and it will not affect one damn thing. Dickie Scruggs, David Nutt, Jerry Hollingsworth, John Black, and Bill Jordan will go as high as Keith needs them to go. They are 100% bought in for Kiffin. They will find the money. Florida is not that bought in.
Also, how is it much easier to make it at Florida? I mean if it was so easy to win at Florida, why did Ron Zook fail? Why did Will Muschamp fail? Why did Jim McElwain fail? Why did Dan Mullen ultimately fail? Why did Napier fail? It is not easier to win there. Their boosters are batshit crazy and think it is still 1996 and they are the only team that runs a spread offense.
Both schools are in the SEC and there are no divisions. Some of you are still operating like this is 2005. HS recruiting does not really matter, paying players is completely legal, and OM is a hell of a lot more consistent than Florida has been in the last 15 years. Outside of the Mullen years, Florida has been two steps below mediocre. Hell outside of those 3 years you could argue Florida is a bottom 3rd team in the SEC in the last 15 years. That is just not as attractive a job as it was 15 years ago, especially in the NIL era.
That's not what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about the pressures of the job...is there ANYTHING about om that makes it easier to win there vs UF...the answer is there's not! These coaches don't look at things the way we think they do. Job security is usually less of a factor than you think it is. Ability to win big is a lot bigger factor
But again, with the way he recruits the portal at OM, and with a built in structure and a school that has given him EVERYTHING, it is easier to win at OM right now. Just is. But if you want me to nail it down to one thing, it is this: OM will give him everything and ask for nothing on his end. Florida will give him 50% of what he asks for and make him jump through 9 hoops and appease Steve Spurrier in the process. Also at OM, he knows who holds the purse strings, Keith. At Florida it depends which hour of the day it is. So to sum it up, the structure is FAR BETTER at Ole Miss. Hell the structure is better at Mississippi State than it is Florida.
What makes it easier to win at Florida though? 15 years ago you could say they play in an easier division, better HS recruiting ground, more recent success. What can you say now? Lane hates developing players, which is why he prefers the portal, there are no divisions anymore, and OM has more recent sustained success.
Why would I do that? Or care? Lane has had the better team than us every year and has never blown us out and we should have beaten them at least 1 more time. Lane just does not scare me.
Also, James Franklin is getting that job so it is a moot point. They will have Franklin wrapped up before the end of the regular season out of all likelihood. The boosters who want him are already selling the job he did at Vandy and how they know he can win in this conference. There is some belief he will bring some Penn St players with him as well.
And despite that- Spurrier and Urban Meyer won National Championships. Some of those failed coaches you mentioned- including McElwain and Dan won SEC East Championships there. So, let's say our job is comparable to Ole Miss in accomplishments the past 25 years or so. Dan won more games more easily at Florida than he did here. It would be the same if Kiffin took over. Zook and Muschamp failed because no one wanted to replace Spurrier and Meyer there. Napier failed because Scott Stricklin is their athletic director for some reason.
Don't forget that Florida completely waxed Ole Miss last year in Gainesville.
The reality is this rumor is floating out there because Lane is looking. I have no doubt about that. He hasn't come out and refuted it or said he isn't interested- yet.
