Honestly, if Selmon did have great help, that is a testament to him to not let ego get in the way and rely on those who could help him. Thats what a great leader does.

Don't think I've ever been more proud to be a Bulldawg. Zac did what good leaders do. Surround yourself with the best and swing for the fences. And as a result we assembled the BEST STAFF IN THE COUNTRY. This hire will become EPIC in the history of Bulldawg sports. Stand tall Dawgs everywhere! We 17ing KILLED it!!!
We had people on here- and you might have been one insisting that we weren't overspending on a baseball hire. And we just spent a ton of money to hire a HOF caliber coach while at the same time increasing staff and our NIL reserve.
With all due respect the ones that said that Bo McKinnis and others were spearheading this were 100% right on the money the whole time. And yeah- they had to get Selmon involved. They weren't staging a coup here. It was always going to go better with Selmon involved- for everyone.
We didn't overspend on a hire, BOC was cheap buyout-wise. I said we wouldn't spend $10MM on buyouts, and we didn't. All those high buyout guys were never even an option. This hire was done almost as soon as we had an opening, and that's the crazy thing. Just had to be sure he could let VA go and their counter wasn't crazy after all those years and that was handled by Selmon. There are always money people involved to a point, but this has pretty well been settled for awhile as long as cold feet didn't kill it because VA couldn't offer enough. That's not anyone one of us knowing shit, just folks doing their jobs.
