Yep, it's called collusion and MLB owners did this in the free agent seasons of 85, 86, and 87. Several players signed for way less than market value and some remained unsigned until late-April/May. Owners were found guilty, had to pay restitution over a three year period and several players including Kirk Gibson and Jack Morris were awarded free agency. The owners were found guilty of this because it violated the labor agreement with the MLBPA.Quote:
