That's the magic of Mike Leach. A lot of people credit the Air Raid for it and I think there is some truth to that. But I think at his core he was a GREAT coach. As quirky as he was he was able to get everyone on the same page and had the respect of his players. You could tell that they loved playing for him. Really remarkable and there are so many things that people can learn from him. When he passed away he had gotten us back to where we were under Dan. 9 wins and a NYD bowl type of team in year three. It's really sad that we didn't get to see what his offense would have been under Chris Parson and later Kamario Taylor. They would have surpassed Will's records.

I will say this- it's not like players just get to pick where they go. It has to be mutual. If his ceiling is WKU then Washington wouldn't have take him.

I think Will has talent. He has had success at this level. That isn't up for debate. The biggest issues I saw with him were that he at times tried to do too much and it caused him to play tight- see the 2022 Egg Bowl. The other big issue I saw and I think it kind of goes hand in hand with playing too tight is he took too long to make decisions a lot of times. In his case that caused him to miss reads at times- remember how on Genespage fans would show clips of wide open receivers that Will would just not throw the ball too and just check it down? It caused him to not attack deep at times when there were opportunities and he should have taken the opportunity to do so. And yes, his arm isn't the strongest and he wasn't very mobile but he was crazy accurate and when he got hot and relaxed he was very good at times. For him to make it at the next level he is going to have to get past that and I hoped early in his career that would happen as he became an upper classman but it's getting to the point where he is running out of time.

His ceiling as far as a roster spot isn’t WKU. There are plenty of G5 talents on our roster as well. Leach is the only coach in the country that could pull off what he did. Leach was special. It’s going to go very poorly on offense at Washington. It already is.

And another fun thing we get to watch this season is how Western Kentucky with Friend and Houston with Barbay does in 2024.

I will be wildly interested to see how both do. More so Barbay than Friend. I think Tyson Helton will still want to run HIS offense at WKU. Be very interesting to see how much free reign Fritz gives Barbay with Donovan Smith.

If Will was this big stud QB that Bucky wants him to be then he should have overcome Barbrady last year with his massive talent. He didn’t. He stunk it up just like the rest and is going to stink it up in Washington.

Good luck to his concrete feet and noodle arm. He’s going to need it

last year's Egg Bowl was a real snapshot of Rogers. Late 3rd or early 4th Q- big drive...Perfect call by the OC for a big play and likely TD. Rogers passes on taking the deep shot for the TD to the WR breaking open on our sideline- instead throwing a 5 yard route.

That's pretty much who he will be at Washington also.

Will played his heart out for us. I'll never say he didn't. He has a lot of physical limitations that will prevent him from making it to the next level or being a difference maker P5 QB. Again, Leach took Will's limitations and masked them better than any coach could have done or will do.

And Will chose to stay. The portal was available to him just like everybody else. Yet Bucky and his crew want to blame everybody else for his shortfalls. If big mean ol Arnett fooled the Rogers family then that’s on them. They should have done their research into Barbrady and his system.

Nobody has taken any L's on Will Rogers. He is exactly who many here have said he is. To top it off- all I did was link an article about their scrimmage. And we will link things about him all season in 2024. We gonna see how it goes for him this season. He has a weak schedule to begin the season so he should roll in the 2nd half when it gets tougher. He will be comfortable in the system by then.

Not exactly fair. Wash roster is a complete crap show. They are staring at 5-7.
Will doesn't help that because he is not an impact player. But he walked into a bad situation, too.

I mean in their defense, Arnett fooled a lot of people. He fooled two people to even get the job in the first place. I still say that if his true intentions would've been known, we would've just named him the interim and never given him the full time gig without interviewing others.

Gotta call BS on this. If Arnett told Will that he isn't changing the offense and then he clearly did change the offense, that is on Arnett. Everyone knew that Will was a system QB. He was damn good in the Leach system. In any other system he was not going to look good. This isn't hard. Arnett screwed Will, himself and MSU when he decided to switch systems. If he stays with the Leach system, my guess is that he is still the coach at MSU.

Yea even with all they lost, they are markedly better than 7 of those 8 teams. I mean say what you want, but Will is used to SEC passing windows. I don't think the Rutgers DBs are going to have the type of closing speed as the DBs from even Arkansas. And also, Fisch won't be afraid to change QBs. He may do it late and it costs them a game, ala De Laura vs. Fifita, but he will pull the trigger and go the freshman if he thinks they can win games.

Yep. In one breath we have to hear how elite he is for getting an offer from Washington and the next we have to hear how sh*tty their roster is and he can’t help it.

Actually, there were 2 people open for TDs on that play. One on the 15 and another one at the 10. There was a safety back between the receivers but he was 10yds away from either one of them.

You know there was like a 2 week stretch from Auburn to Arky in 2021 where Will played with no fear and just let it rip.....I never saw that Will again.

If I recall he played pretty well in a stretch in 2022 as well against aTm, Ark and someone else. The issue with Rogers was consistency and once he made a mistake he would play scared after that mistake. He was definitely not the right QB for Arnetts system but that doesn’t mean he won’t be successful at Washington. I wish him all the best.
