Probably so. He basically went to the "hot" team at the time last year who was LSU.
If Pico keeps pitching well and we add Dohm back to the bullpen at some point- that could give us a very big boost.

He was in the 8th round last week in the one I saw. I think he teeters around that top 10 rounds. If he falls in the top 10, he's supposedly gone. We shall see.
As for pitching, the loser ass pitching coach we had recruited too many raw ass hard throwers who couldn't pitch and who got no help from said loser ass pitching coach. You're going to see us recruit a different type pitcher and fewer of these raw, jucos. I'm hoping we drop a couple we've already got coming because they quite frankly aren't good enough.
When UCLA beat us for their first CWS Championship, their team batting avg. was .266. However, they had 2 stud pitchers and a 3rd that was as good as anyone on our team. So, yeah, this game can be controlled and successful with a couple great starting hurlers, a couple mid relievers, and a couple of real closers.

Gerrit Cole was one of them I think.
UCLA as a curiosity only used 6 post season pitchers for 95% of innings and had no LHP in the main 6 pitchers used.
Sad we lost to a bitch-ball team in baggy pajama uniforms.
MSU freaked out in that final series. MSU actually eliminated the best PAC12 team to reach the final, Oregon State. Also eliminated a super talented and solid UVA in the stadium John Grisham built for them.
