If you mean he is told what they want him to know to spread to the public, I think many would agree with that. That is different than having intimate strategic information that they know he will run on his show. Or he is part of the system and will willingly spread false information

That's why the 3 vs 4 man front argument is so tiresome.

One argument I had against Arnett last time was his use of 5 DBs. It's almost always 3 safeties instead of 3 corners or a mix. LSU just put Nabers in the slot and tore up the safety he kept on him. I hope he adapts a little more this go round.

He definitely talks to Hadad, as well as Robbie, Steve, Paul, etc. But there's some stuff he's not going to tell him. That shouldn't come as a huge shock to anyone. Charlie has to maintain good relationships with all media members. Heck he himself is also a media member in a way. He definitely talks to all those guys though.

I would have to know context and how it was said. Was it more opinion or was he trying to say he was point blank told we had 30 million to spend and we are not spending it. If it is just an opinion then it is nothing. If he is stating a fact then up until Monday there was some credence to that.

Look, up until literally the last 48 hours, it was fair to question our portal acquisitions outside of the CBs and Marquis Johnson. We have definitely picked it up in that time frame though.

As far as the 30 million number, that one has been pretty widely reported that we would have around that much between rev share and NIL. I had heard as low as 27 and as high as 35 so the 30 number is in that range.

That's 44 guys. Easily another 25 beyond that in freshmen prospects and transfers. Conservatively you are at 69 guys. Conservatively, you have 5-6 making $1 mil by themselves - Maybe a couple at $2m or more. So, you are "splitting" maybe 24 million between 60 or players. That just $400k each.
Now I have no idea what the real numbers are. But it shows how quickly the $ ads up and how possibly far behind we were/are. When you have Miami offering Ty Simpson $6.5 m to play another year - you see it.

The context is using any of the fan media as a absolute source on anything along these lines, there in no way on gods green earth that anyone with real knowledge would pass on exact information. To many people run to the propaganda peddled by our fan media, they have to understand that these guys are selling something. It all, as much as we all want our teams to be successful, is just another opinion not an absolute source of bang on solid information to always be relied on.

The kid is probably the most coveted OL in the portal. He will command close to 3 million. How much do you think we have committed to paying

I'm guessing we will still go after 1-2 more, but if you think we can afford to pay any OL 3 million, after committing to paying the 5 young OL money, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Look - either this strategy of signing young high upside OL will work, or Lebby is looking for a job next year. It is not the route I would have taken, but I'm certainly hoping it works out.

It does appear to be the same strategy on the DL. Young high upside, yet unproven at the P4 level.

Dent: 150-300K

That's not including what you've got in retention to guys like James, Owens, Steen, potentially Boone, etc.

Now could we get into a bidding war for Seaton if there was genuine interest? Yes. There's not a doubt in my mind we could. But we're not going to be bidding against a void. He has to want to come here and he has given no indication that is the case. People are just grasping at straws that because Loadholt was his OL coach, he'd want to be here.

I've been told the Chester number is higher, as it should be. I gotta admit, I'm not a huge fan of paying close to 2 million for five kids that have a combined zero starts and basically zero playing time.

You could get two absolute studs on the OL for 1 million each. I sure hope this works out.

He has done nothing to endear himself to the fan base or create any excitement. When Mullen lost to south al he was out there the next week vs South Carolina coaching like his job depended on it. Supposedly he has been talked to by us (saw that on this board) he’s still playing and not in the portal right now. I believe the conflict is not the portal time. If he wants to transfer, teams in the playoff get 5 extra days. It would be the deadline for signing up for spring semester

Lebby has recruited projects and unproven guys. Why? because talent still doesn't buy into his vision at the OL. They know if they're already a starter that playing here could hurt their next paycheck. It is what it is.

Lebby could absolutely strike it big with this group. But it's a ****ing gamble. He had a top priority this portal and has done a piss poor job at it: get quality OL who have proven production. And if we're paying Dent 150k then we're suckers and bad at evaluating OL. From all indications the dude was constantly getting his ass kicked by walkons at OU. You gotta be delusional about Loadholt's coaching skill for him to turn it around. He's gonna likely be at a G5 next season, and then an FCS the year after that if he doesn't get his shit together.
