I will not renew my 6 season tickets for baseball as the SEC network will allow me to watch all of States games as well as a few others and not have to drive 375 miles one way to watch a very poor coached team from my arm chair in Louisiana. I love my University but I am very unhappy with our AD and our Baseball coach and what athletics has become today. At my age I do not need to go thru the agrevation of a season like this year.

You're first problem is asserting that we should only build a new stadium if it means that we sell it out every night. No one does that. Not even MLB. That's extremely short sighted. We're going to have smaller crowds at times simply because there are going to be times like spring break, exams, etc. that students are not going to be in town. If we're playing Alcorn in February and it's 40 degrees on a Tuesday, we're never going to sell that out either- and it's unrealistic to expect that.

Conversely, we're also going to have SBW, Regionals, SR, weekends against big name and rival teams- and those are going to draw well.

You're second problem is assuming that we shouldn't build a new stadium because we are currently drawing well. A new stadium is going to be more comfortable and a better experience for our fans overall. It's going to help with recruiting because the players are going to see something nice and modern as opposed to old and outdated when compared to who we are recruiting against in the SEC.

I'm going to try to explain this- and bear in mind I'm not justifying, just explaining. Cohen values experience- if he can at all help it. That's a big reason why Humphreys doesn't play more. And in most cases Cohen is right about that- but there certainly are also players that CAN handle playing as freshmen as well. I think Humphreys would do OK if he played and started every day.

Vickerson is an older player- but he's not a very good player right now.

I think CT and Cody Brown should both start no matter what. Armstrong and Henderson- just depends on who is hot, but Armstrong is hitting SEC pitching better and he doesn't screw up as much.

I agree 100% Todd with what you are saying. He values experience and I get that but that trait has bit him in the ass with this year's team with Rea and Detz and others. I think Cohen is a great coach and will win a national championship at MSU before he retires. I think this season is an anomaly and the 2013 season will be the norm. I think this year is a good example of what can happen when a team doesn't have great senior leadership.

I would be concerned- except for a story I heard about Keith Hernandez doing three lines of coke in the clubhouse and then getting three hits against the Giants. That pretty much convinced me that beer and drugs don't affect players.

Todd your assertion does not make sense. I did not say or insinuate that we only build new stadium if we sell it out every night, I said we will not improve our attendance by building a new stadium. Your second assertion is stupid as I did not say any thing about drawing well currently and a new stadium will not be any more confortabal than the one we have now, our administration will cut back to point of not letting that happen. Recruiting will not be any better, you have not talked to many of our recruits in last 4 to 6 years or you would not say that. It is not always the stadium that attracts recruits, but the atmosphere and you will not improve on our atmosphere by building a new stadium.

There was also a Major League player who threw a no hitter on acid. He dropped a hit of acid because he thought he had the day off that day but it turned out he was starting that day. Talk about a wild ride.

There definitely comes a point in time where you have to say- OK, this guy is a freshman/rookie, but he's better than the veteran.

Based on the recent video- I don't know that Rea is such a bad leader after all. But I do think that we have guys trying to do too much- and that is probably why some guys have struggled like those two that you mentioned. Of course, performance could be argued to be a part of leadership. So, from that point you could say that he's not a great leader.

Like tonight- we get the bases loaded with no one out, and we have our three small contact hitting outfielders coming up. All they had to do was put the ball in play and odds are something good would happen. But at the very least, Cody Brown's swing gets big because he tried to do too much and he expands the zone and strikes out. And then the next two guys do the same thing. We have too many guys that get greedy and get away from what works- and then it bites them in the ass. And I think that's why we struggle in situational hitting so much. Guys trying to do too much. When we just try to hit line drives, we do fine.

As far as this season being an anomaly, I agree just because if we had a decent catcher we are probably hosting. It's not like we are God awful horrible. But we're not good enough to get away with a ton of mistakes either.

Well, you said our attendance wouldn't get any better. I could only assume that you meant it wasn't worth it because we are drawing well already. What I can tell you is we are NOT going to lose attendance by building a new stadium.

You sit in the boxes- which is probably the nicest part of the ballpark. Dudy-Noble has a LOT of areas that are very uncomfortable for fans to watch the game.

I'm not a huge Scott Stricklin fan- but MSU under his tenure has always done a good job with the facilities. I have no reason to believe he wouldn't do a good job with one of our most visible sports.

Our atmosphere will improve with a new stadium. The LFL is going to stay. It's going to be as good as it has ever been.

There are a lot of things that go into recruiting. And if we can improve an aspect of that, we should do it.

If building a new facility means nothing and it's all atmosphere to recruits, then why have Oregon and Alabama multi millions on the locker rooms and lounges alone? And yet again, in regards to Cohen, I ask, how many coaches in any sport at this school gone to the natty? One "bad" year and y'all freak out. We have made mistakes but damn we are what, fourth in the SEC? Still can win it? I appreciate the 54 years of support, that's longer than my life, but damn, it's not that bad!

Meant that those schools have spent that (football) and as much as we (me) cuss our players that's a complete overreaction. There are some players I may hate seeing fail over and over but damn fire Cohen? Calm down

Firing Cohen is ludicrous at this point.

Ron Polk left one season after getting us to Omaha in 2007- but some people may have forgotten that he chose to resign. He wasn't fired. And as badass as Greg Byrne is, I have no doubt in my mind that Byrne would have given him one more year to turn it around. Polk might have gotten himself on the hot seat- but Byrne wouldn't have fired him. And as much as I wanted Polk gone, I would have totally understood keeping him around one more year.

One year after going to Omaha, Cohen has us at worst as a 3 seed which is what would happen if we crap out these final five games. And likely a 2 seed. We'll see what the postseason holds for us, but there is no reason to fire Cohen.

We have a glaring hole at catcher right now- and that will be fixed by next year. Our pitching is solid- 1 earned run tonight and we came darn close to shutting out Auburn for an entire series on the road. Our defense is very good- I think it's the best in the SEC, and yes our official scorer is part of that, but still..., and our hitting is not that bad when our guys stay within themselves.

To be a baseball fan for so long -- you don't know a damn thing about the game. Don't know much about logistics period -- for that matter.
