Hate to be looking at Ole Miss portal players, but this dude is hitting 300 in the Cape. Also, thrown out 6 of 14 stolen base attempts.
He is far out performing last year portal prospect Jimmy Keenan of Wake Forest.
He is already committed to Oklahoma State.

I think our two guys were Tinney from Notre Dame and Milewski, and we got Milewski.
It was and Texas has the 1st pick and the selected Swinney and State got Milewski
Other school stuff - Portal continues
SS- Latta to Texas A&M after they signed Hacopian the reputed best SS from Maryland. Nice MIF for TAM.
OF- Ruiz of Lamar to Arkansas, MSU was also looking at him. Speedy and multi tooled player.
IF- Topher Jones of Pear River to OM, was a MSU high school recruit, has nice numbers at JC. OM had previously lost a big former recruit and underclassman from Summer ball to UF.
LHP- Dylan Loy from Tennessee signs with Georgia Tech. Maybe he wanted to start above all else.
Looks like we are waiting until the draft is done before we make our next step.
Added Catcher Andrew Raymond from George Mason out of the portal. He batted .287 and started 50 of the 61 games played. He had 50 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs and 33 RBI while walking 30 times and striking out 26. Needed another Catcher on the roster so a good pickup.
Very good pick up. He has at least 2-3 more years of eligibility. We needed legit depth and we have it now. This was probably our biggest need. Just need to see what the draft fallout is and then we'll make some moves accordingly. Short term it seems like we're in excellent shape overall.
That is about as good of a pickup as you could hope for as your backup catcher.
Yes, 1 Aug is the deadline. I really don't understand why the draft has been pushed so much later than it used to be? I was not a fan of when it was right before or during the CWS but college baseball has been over for a while now. Finding out so late which players and signees are getting drafted and where really puts college coaches in a bind.
Still some players to get if the draft bites the roster...
Some head scratchers on this list. The UGA Dogs Kolten Smith and Alton Davis are wasted collegiate roster spots, like taking someone's wrecked cars. Even the dude on the top of the list has performance numbers that even USMs midweek starter could possibly give you. Fastball velo is sexy to the scouts. The top Duke dude has a +7 ERA. These dudes need minor league A-ball for 3 years, not SEC roster spots.
The good collegiate pitchers are on the bottom. Proksch, Reddemann, and Cooper Moore look like excellent guys to get if someone gets drafted high and you can redirect the NIL. Cooper Moore has 120 innings of experience and been getting sharply better.

We may get Godbut and Arroyo if they aren't drafted. That and any other pitching that we think can help us. Not sure how much of that is really out there at this point. I'd be looking for a Cam Schuelke type that can eat innings and throw from a weird arm angle as much as anything and that's a luxury for us at this point.
MLB wants to tie it into All Star game festivities. Coaches were complaining for years about the timing of the draft in June. And I agree it was a huge distraction.
Coaches mostly know where they stand with draft candidates at this point and most should be using the portal to mitigate losses before the Fourth of July. Like O'Connor has essentially already done.
I wonder how much Hickson costs to recruit, if he goes MLB draft, you can go for the Kansas, San Diego or the good Duke player. Those guys look like a Plug and Play Sunday starters if not better.
My guess is that BOC is a game theory man, he's looking NPV of Hickson, Bauer, Harmon, and two high effort power kids in his inherited Recruiting Class and is factoring how to transition for a total loss to MLB or just losing 3 of 6.
I'm not sure how much it costs to recruit a player in general but probably not that much. I'm 99% sure that they don't get their NIL if they go pro and I'm 99% sure their NIL deals don't start until after they get to school.
All BOC and anyone else can do is talk to scouts and try to gauge as best as they can what will happen.
Interesting that the guy from Stanford is still on the board. I thought lsu was crowing about grabbing him.
He's going to be expensive and high risk.
He had an ERA of 6.01 and allowed 79 hits in 70 IP with only 56 K's despite throwing 100 MPH and he had 34 walks and 16 (!) wild pitches and hit 4 batters.
He is intriguing because he throws 100 which is why LSU and Texas are interested and he made Team USA in 2024 but if he is taken on a team is gambling on the hope that it clicks for him. But he is playing at Stanford and not somewhere like Utah Tech where resources are limited.
Honestly, if we added him I would expect him to be our third starter at best. This is Eric Cerentola 2.0.
Supposedly down to LSU and Arkansas.
The SEC just keeps bringing in huge power arms who are high on draft boards and hoping they get developed even if it hasn?t translated to results yet. Should be interesting to see long-term how that works out for those guys when they have better resources and facilities to work with. Can?t always teach everything there is to being a good pitcher.
