LMGTFY - Hudspeth Recruits
And we all know that Pickering and Moore are really 5* recruits, but 247 needs to keep the blue bloods at the top of the croot rankings
So you think Hud deserved credit for those two guys over Baker?
Let me ask this: Which of Hud or Baker leaving would make either Moore or Pickering more likely to decommit?
Again, I like the process & believe in this coaching staff, but I believe your expectations for them are entirely too low if you think they are getting good results right now. The state of Mississippi is on the cusp of losing more quality players to out of state schools than at any point since the 1990s, & you guys are OK with that. That's an unbelievable insult to our school & program IMO.
You don't have to be water carrier & you don't have to be negative. It's OK to be honest while giving credit & acknowledging reality.
To say we haven’t recruited just isn’t true. Our approach is different and recruits need to see the offense. We aren’t simply signing up the easy guys to get to fill the spots. We’re still after other guys. If we play well in Sept, we'll have something to sell. Doesn’t mean we will get guys, but those low hanging fruit guys will still be available. People need to realize kids are recruited for years, not days or weeks. It’ll get better as long as we play well. That’s why we’re already pounding the next couple classes.
I hope this is all true & I really want to believe you as well. Again, I believe in this process & this staff.
However, this is your opinion & not based on facts. The facts are that we are being outrecruited currently by a team on probation, have no quality LBs committed, OL recruiting is still struggling, & we are about to lose more instate quality players since the 1990s.
The effort isn't paying off yet. Hopefully it does soon.
The difference between they way CJM and CDM recruit is night and day .
This whole staff is involved with recruiting not just one particular position coach in a particular area
The whole staff is involved esp Moorhead himself
And yes HUD is very important to the recruiting in Mississippi
A good example of how different they are.
Jaquarius landrews didn’t even know who Coach Hev was never meet the guy when he committed to state and Hev supposedly had the territory that Co-Lin was in.
Believe what you want to believe, results will come eventually but this staff is far and above better recruiters than what was under DM .. with all the different factors that take place during recruiting lack of effort by this staff won’t be one of them
Also losing Coach Austin was a much bigger blow than most know. Dude was very good with kids and their parents. Lots of trust was built with these recruits and families with Coach Austin.
Where the momentum died, in my opinion, was when we ?lost? John Emery. I know he was never committed, but most everyone was saying he was ours. Then he delayed his announcement and the writing was on the wall. Took the wind out of my sails. Then Dannis Jackson, etc.
None of those examples where you say momentum died were really that shocking though. I doubt any players backed their pledge because John Emery didn't pledge to MSU. I don't think we are close to being done with Dannis.
There is still a lot of time in the season. We will be standing out in the media soon enough and coaches can finally back up what they have been pitching to some of these recruits once they see it unfolding on the field.
If we want to be honest momentum hasn't died. The only difference between this summer & previous is that Mullen would've held Pickering, Brooks, Pruitt, & Emerson until Big Dawg camp & everyone would've been hype about the class. Even though the ranking would be exactly the same. There has rarely been much movement in recruiting in late summer/early season but Mullen would stack commits in late July to give the impression we ended the summer on a high note.
Another thing this staff doesn't just throw out a ton of useless offers so we don't have just a ready made list of "I know we like this kid because he has an offer" group to go by. When fans don't know the pecking order they get nervous & just assume we don't have any targets or we're down to the bottom of the barrel guys. With the last staff that would be true but this staff isn't just going to settle they'll continue to recruit guys who are actually SEC caliber players & not just take the easy route. Getting these kids to sign is the bottom line & what they'll be judged on but they're nowhere similar to the way the last staff recruited. Just remember just because you don't know who they're on doesn't mean they're not on a # of different guys.
May not have been shocking, but almost everyone was saying don't worry about Emery, even after he changed his commitment date. I didn't say a word about other players backing off because he didn't commit, but you know other players notice. What has happened since then? We lost the top two instate WR to TSUN, one being a flip. How does that not equal momentum coming to a grinding halt?
The fact is, this is still MSU, and we’ve got a new staff. We need a LB, DB, OL, & RB. Most kids committed weren’t recruited by this staff but the last 8 months. Most of the rest of the league is established staffs. We’ve done nothing from a success perspective to think we’re going to sign a bunch of 5 stars. And this is still MS where a lot of kids just want out.
Stop acting like we’re some incredible program that everybody wants to play for. We’re not that program yet.
No idea if the emery ship has sailed, but if not, surely we helped our cause yesterday. If he signed here, he'd back up Kylin 1 season, and be the man for 2 rather than split carries every year at Georgia
