I don't think he really wanted to come back to be honest.

I haven?t seen anyone praising the new kid. His physical attributes are certainly better than MVB though. You can just look at the size. You can?t coach that. MVB was an okay QB. That?s all. His end of year problems were the same as the ones against Texas. Honestly, he looked worse at the end of the year than he did against Texas and Georgia. That was an issue. His stats are relatively pedestrian and he?s sitting the bench somewhere else because of it. He was not starting when Shapen decided to come back.
I feel comfortable saying demand price and starter demand were both issues and play a part in why he is no longer here. Are we paying Shapen or Kromenhoek $1.5 million? I don't know, but I suspect we aren't.
In the aggregate, yes. Is either one making that alone? No. And from almost anyone I have talked to about it, the starter demand was the one that we never budged on. The money could have been worked out. But the starter demand would have caused us to lose Shapen, we definitely would not have Kromenhoek, and we would be trying to find a G5 guy who just wanted to be a backup.
To update a little on DB:
Taking what I have read from Robertson and Jones, as well as talking to a couple of people, I think we are probably done at DB until the spring portal period unless someone from a semi final team jumps, which is not out of the realm of possibility. I think Coleman feels like we probably can hang tight and see what we look like we what we got and then go see what is out there in the spring portal. I think this spring portal period will he a lot busier than years past.
This season, under the supposedly struggling Lebby, we had 2871 yards passing. 900+ of that was from Shapen in his 4 games.
This is only the EIGHTH time in HISTORY, that MSU has eclipsed 2800 yards passing in a season.
I cannot wait to see what he can do with an experienced QB and having a defense that allows his offense to possess the ball more than 25 minutes per game.
The WR room is better than the CB. Neither is strong, one is straight up bad.
I mean how did it get worse? Brice Pollock was not Emmanuel Forbes or Martin Emerson. It is about the same. That is not to say it is great or anything. But we did not go from average to awful because we lost Pollock. We were below average before and we are probably below average or slightly better now.
Honestly, the actual grading of our DB's was better than fan perception because we had so few pressures.
We have Kelly Jones who I thought was solid. We can see what we have with the current group in the spring and if we need to add a CB we can get one in the spring portal.
I think Pollack had a chance to be a draft pick. I'm not saying a first rounder or anything, but the kid had talent and he was performing well, even without our DL getting pressure. I think we have improved a lot on defense, but corner is not one of those spots, at least on paper. Maybe the Lewis kid blows up. No clue. We need two corners from P4 programs to hit the portal and we need them both. If the goal is to get to 6 wins, we need two solid corners from the portal. Just my opinion.
Do we know anything about how Evans visit has gone?
