And just what is the average tenure by a successful HC at any stop? I would take a chance on a very successful 65-year-old coach from many levels vs our history with "up and coming" assistant coaches at this point.

Going back to Seaton.
I thought LSU was inevitable but things sure are quiet now.
OT: Didn’t Selmon make a post last week about a big announcement of some kind was coming in a day or two. Did I miss it or maybe I dreamed this?
Probably just mean that he'll announce once his last paid visit is deposited.
We just signed Sneh
McVay has played LT. We have signed Sneh.
But even if we had not signed either of those, the upside to the guys signed was an improvement in raw talent.
We got the TE we wanted. And we are not looking for another.
As to edge, we did sign some. Arnett worked with one of them who played some last year for him. In fact the kid is good enough that he played both ways for FSU. Scored a TD on a pass as a TE and averaged 25 yards per catch. He also had 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss (TFL), and 1.5 sacks as the rotation guy. He scored a TD and got a sack in the same game playing both ways.
From LSU writer:
I honestly don't have a great feel on Seaton now. Oregon in the mix, so is Miami but him leaving LSU without signing was not what I expected on Monday. Thought Tigers would close and heard Seaton was really impressed with that visit. We'll see but it's a toss up right now.
Gotta admit - you really come off as a puppet for the coaching staff. The guy has a legit point.
Several of us on here have legitimate concerns about this portal class and the direction of the program. I mean, the DL we signed in the portal have done zero on any level, let alone P4 level. Most of our OL signees haven't played at all. Chester is the only one that has played meaningful snaps.
We signed one solid WR. We haven't addressed RB where we clearly need to replace Booth - and we haven't. I like Gayten, but I think we should have gone after a backup RB.
I do like what we did in the secondary - really like Gilbert, Taylor and the Rice kid.
Beyond the secondary being improved - I don't see a position group other than LB (Due to getting better year to year) that we should expect to be better than last year.
I just don't see you can look at our roster and think we are any better than last season. Especially on the DL. We have Whitson returning, but from another injury. Beyond him, I guess we have Trevion for another season.
My only concern is that we went young in the trenches. You can certainly make the case we signed more talented guys to come in- but they will certainly be a little green. 11 of our new signees were composite 4 stars out of HS. This hasnt really been discussed but we also ran off some dumb guys and brought some smarter ones in. Heard that one of our biggest problems on the OL was that there were some dumbasses on it. Constantly missing assignments for stupidity cant be tolerated
The fact that you think that an NCAA/SEC staff would come to a message board or send people to message boards to make comments is something. LOL.
You have concerns. That doesn't make them legit.
DL- Dealyn Evans played in all 13 games for TAMU, including the CFP. Amaree Williams played last year for Arnett. He knows what he is getting with him. Jayson Jenkins has played alot. He started at Tennessee in 2022 and took a red shirt. He even recorded a strip sack against us in 2024. That's not including the ones we intentionally kept on.
OL. Sneh has been playing since 2022. He's plyed LT the whole time and has started since 2023. DJ Chester has played and was all SEC as a starter for LSU in 2024 and then was put into filling holes in 2025 due to his versatility. Miles McVay saw a lot of snaps while at Bama and was seeing them until his injury at NC. That's not counting the returning people we made sure we kept. Steen, Boone....etc
WR. Marquis Johnson has played since his freshman year. He's played in 25 games and is considered an "Elite Deep Threat". Zion Ragins played in all 13 games as a freshman on a CFP team. We also return a great WR room.
RB. Why would we need another RB? We have our 1&2 and back ups. Gayten took the #2 spot. Plus, we are not done yet.
People, including coaches, get enamored with a player's physical capabilities and forget that the OL needs to be your smartest position group. Often times coaches are over confident and think they can fix players. Especially when you get desperate, you take what you can get.
Any weak link in the group can cause major issues. They have to communicate and think quickly while battling against the biggest and most violent athletes that can be found. The DL guys? They have no such problem, they can be as dumb as Bobby Bucher Jr and still have the see ball and get ball mentality and be very effectively as a DL.
