Maybe so. He exceeded expectations last year tho. I don't think Grantham takes us to #1 in D.

This. Sweat and Simmons have both been great rookies, and Abram was good before the injury. But to Shoop's credit, at least he didn't bungle the talent like his offensive counterpart did.

I loved the way he called the defense during games. Like I said ... Grantham is predictable and doesn't take us to #1 IMO. Having those NFL players certainly didn't hurt any tho.

I think Shoop as DC is ok if he had a productive offensive team to go along with him. Louisville makes their living this year on O since their D sucks. I expected to give up some points.

It's easy to dial up plays with the D he had last year.

I'd like to see what Shoop could do under another good HC ... like when he was with Franklin. The D's morale can fall a good bit if the offense consistently doesn't score points. They be like WTF we trying for. That may be the reason Gay & Shrader got into it.

Can we spread them out on up the middle running plays?

This game is evidence that recruiting rankings do matter. We are so much more talented than UL that we may just bungle our way into beating them despite them having way better coaching.
