Those are just the names off the top of my head at the moment. I know Jake Peetz turned down Matt Rhule but you may want to at least gauge his interest. The problem is that any hire not named Kendall Briles is going to be a let down and rightfully so because he will have turned us down. There's no rumors about it, he was offered the position and has an offer, if he is not the hire then the next guy will always be the second choice. If it ever got past Kevin Johns then you could always just give it to Chris Hatcher.

I swear I would take the job for half what they offered Briles haha

I?ve noticed in a lot of these coaching search situations the first name out there is the one they typically hire and into the search bigger names will get thrown out as agents negotiate pay raises. But it typically comes back to the first name.

I thought in the beginning that Hatcher's type offense was what CZA was looking for. I'm pretty sure Hatcher had an interest. Just not sure where he was or is on CZA's list or if he even made the list. If he can get KB though that's a home run hire.

Thanks. Just because it?s the 2nd option doesn?t mean it won?t work out well. People will have a hard time with that though.

Oh I agree 100%. However, the optics until the ball is put down in September will be that we missed on our number 1 choice and had to pivot to whoever the hire ends up being. Yesterday I was 75/25 the hire would be KB. Today I'm around 55/45 and closer to 50/50. If it gets past today I will be 5/95.

And if KB has moved on, we might not even know until another guy pops up. You don't have to release a statement saying you aren't leaving

Why is kendal briles not a HC yet somewhere? He's got over 5 years of OC experience at this point and is 40.
