I believe
I believe that
I believe that we
I believe that we will win!
Man, can't wait for today's match. If we win that, the Portugal match becomes one of the biggest WC matches we've ever played.
Question for the board: Anyone know of a good bar to watch the game at tonight? I want to meet up with a bunch of soccer fans watching the game. I'm pumped for tonight!
Starting eleven released for Germany and Portugal. Got what we expected from Portugal. No wing backs for Germany, no striker. Will have a false number nine in Mesut Ozil. Lahm holding midfield. Look for him to help cover Ronaldo in patchwork right back role
Ref, if you are in the Jackson area, the local chapter of the American Outlaws watch it at the Capitol Grill. It's a pretty good time
Germany v. Portugal in 25 minutes on ESPN. This is the first game of Group G.
I know some people have watched Champions League games in the past at bww. No idea about the USA game though. You'd think in a college town their would be a decent soccer following amongst students and some faculty even
Ref, I'd head to BWW and sit in the bar area. They'll have it on with audio and everything I'm sure.
I may be heading up there, too. I thought I was going with my wife with some folks from her office, but turns out that's just women and I don't know if I'm up for all that.
Here we go. Teams are coming out onto the pitch and National Anthems are about to be played. 2nd most important match of the day for us.
Expect possession to be about 60-40 Germany. That's fine w Portugal tho, they are built to turn an opponent's chance into a goal of their own a few seconds later. Should be exciting and full of skill. If you're a soccer fan and fan of little things, keep your eye on the small touches ozil will do. He's amazing in ways that you really have to pay attention to to see
Germany dominating possession already
And there we see Ronaldo's speed and ball-handling. He's dangerous on the counter.
So close to a HUGE mistake by the Portuguese GK.
First off day in a while couldn't have picked a better day in sports, and it's Monday!
PENALTY!!!!!!!!!!!
And dude actually didn't dive. Bravo Germany! 1-0
