Same reason why the offense cannot take possession of a blocked FG if it goes past the line of scrimmage. The only way the kicking team can take possession of a kick from scrimmage is if the catch is muffed, the receiving team takes possession and fumbles. That's it. The offense cannot take possession of the ball after a punt or FG, even when tipped before the LOS.Quote:
