State 1878

Looks like a pretty cool thing.

I'm not 100% on all the details but basically it is a site where MSU fans can pay- highest level is only 78 dollars a month and lowest is 10 dollars so pretty affordable- and then get exclusive content from players and behind the scenes stuff.

Charlie Winfield is managing it and Robbie Faulk is the content manager (or some title like that).

It looks like a portion of the fees go to MSU's NIL.

I heard Faulk's on it- that means garbage. Them having a message board on it opens a huge can of worms also as we see in game threads and after losses on every other message board

Yeah. I can't see Charlie letting Robbie act like he did when he was on Genespage. I've never been on On3 but I suspect it's more of the same. Or like he acts on Thunder and Lightning. He can't just go on a message board publicly supported by MSU and say that Chris Lemonis is going to be fired at the end of the year after we lose to Austin Peay. He can't be Temu Brandon Walker.

Getting Robbie off of Thunder and Lightning and On3 is probably a good thing for MSU honestly.

On3 was awesome with Robbie and it'll be awesome without him. It's the only MSU board that isn't dying.

T&L is the #1 MSU podcast statistically and it isn't close so he acted fine.

Believe it or not, people appreciate honesty and not sunshine pumped up your ass.

If we are 1-3 (or even 2-2) at the end of September, they're not going to be able to enforce any kind of fake optimism in there.

Maybe we'll still be on a high after our CWS championship then though.

There's a time and place for "honesty" and a way to handle it and do it.

If you believe that he will be able to just come out and say whatever I believe you're mistaken. If he does he won't last long. There are certain freedoms and leeway when you aren't officially affiliated with MSU. When you are affiliated with MSU then your opinion also becomes MSU's opinion. A moderator being overly critical of a coach is going to be frowned upon.

And Robbie did say some things that were not in MSU's best interests sometimes. He has had confrontations with MSU coaches over things he said in the past in private. Sure, Joe Fan MSU likes it because he says maybe what they're thinking and it feels good to be validated. But that doesn't mean it's good for MSU.

It also doesn't mean it's correct either.

Selmon and Robbie get along now so that softens some of the blow from the coaches. I imagine we will see a much tamer version of Robbie now that is not so, at times, antagonistic towards the university. At the end of the day, Robbie is a good guy and wants to see Mississippi State do well. I think that came across as very adversarial at times and that is what caused him to get sideways with a couple of coaches. Most notably, Lemonis.

As far as the message board portion of it goes, I will have to see how moderated that will be. I would imagine it will be heavily moderated and will probably not have many games threads.

Also, having Charlie in charge of it rather than Paul Jones will make a big difference in what is allowed on the message board.

I've seen Robbie call other MSU fans idiots on Twitter for asking a legit question before. I can't see that flying anymore.

Plus I think most of the content will be player interviews and things like that. I don't think there are going to be a lot of Robbie's "hot takes" on things.

And Robbie will actually be in house at MSU even more and closer to the program than ever before. That gives a different perspective on things rather than Chad Bumphis's second hand info.

Hadad said State 1878 tried to hire him too but he turned it down, which makes me like him even more. T&L is an awesome podcast and he wouldn't get to be as honest and transparent if he was essentially working for the university.

Biggest problem this board has is that I'm the only one of the original 6 owners that still posts here at least regularly. There has been no investment in the board and none of the upgrades needed to modernize. No forethought about the future or how to improve the experience.
