It takes up about 2 pages of the coaching tracker thread.
Also, it's not a rumor anymore. 247 has run the story. It's official.
I know I expected someone in the know to let us know something......
I haven't seen it confirmed but this one surprises me if true. I thought our WR's were much improved this year as a whole. I mean, we had two guys that were almost 1,000 yard receivers. Plus, he's a local guy with a lot of ties to MS and loves MSU.
Let's just say that Jeff Lebby is tying up some leaks.
But how many of those did Chad actually get? He didn't get Thompson. He didn't get Evans. And he only technically got one of Craver and Coleman depending on who is telling you, and it's a lot closer that he got none than both.
He has not recruited well and has not developed well. Unfortunately you have to do one of those well at the P4 level. Look I like Chad. I think he's a good dude. He's extremely nice and was a great player for us. But at the end of the day, being a former player can't outweigh that you can't recruit or develop at a consistent and high level. It also doesn't help his case when he's out there leaking stuff to media and boosters.
Lebby isn't being passive this offseason
What was he leaking to the media and boosters?
Position corches come and go. That's what they do. If he wasn't an ex popular State player it wouldn't be getting a lot of attention.
Biggest concern with me is Bump is gone and Bell isn't. I know I've posted it a couple times, but I worry Lebby isn't prioritizing defense enough. I know he is an offensive guy. It just bothers me Bell is still employed. I can look past the former player stuff.. I'm more of a results guy. I dont care about anything else.
Bottom line is we let go of someone who bled maroon and white, someone who chose us as our highest rated recruit in a time when we were at our lowest. When he could have gone to several other blue bloods. And someone who has ties to a lot of MS high school coaches.
People can paint the picture of him not bringing in players all they want to but for all we know, playing for Lebby and this diseased program is the true problem. But here we are again, our own worst enemy. Yeah lets disown one of our own and back a coach who wont be here after next year.
This is why we suck at this stuff and why OM runs circles around us in pulling in the same direction.
No, this kind of thinking is exactly why we suck. This kind of thinking is exactly how we ended up with Jon Cohen as an AD and one of the root causes why we are in the current diseased situation we are in. This is the old boy way and I for one am glad y’all are finally out of the 17ing way.
Yeah I understand that too.
I am seeing way more negative posts on social media than I am positive. Brandon Walker even made a video about Bump being let go and he isn't happy about it. I bring him up just because he has a large following and I'm sure people will base their opinion off what he said. I don't hate the decision.. especially if we got someone ready that will help us recruit and develop. I don't care about the whole former player stuff. It actually seems to rarely work out when former players come to coach. In my eyes, I look at it like a business. A business and friends usually don't work out. I'm sure he will land another gig somewhere and I'm grateful for everything he has done for our university. Wish him all the best. Now it's time for us to upgrade and go win in the portal.
Some of the same people telling me to not "freak out" about Arnett are now freaking out over Bumphis. Which is interesting.
Like I said we may not like the decisions Lebby is making with the staff but there is no question these are his own decisions and I respect that.
Yea and they should have hire Weis Jr but the high level types convince Carter that the coach with the high level family connections(golding) was the best plan forward and pinned him as the glue that held the kiffin teams together*******this has train wreck written all over it
They had no choice but to hire Golding. If they pass him over and hire Weiss they ran the risk of Golding following Lane to LSU and then having no offensive or defensive staff for the playoffs. I also am not convinced they have signed a real contract with Golding for head coach. Borkey said as much on Sportstalk MS yesterday.
