Good for him but I still don't understand the argument for even having a slot value if you are going to let teams go that far over. I need to study it more I guess but it just seems like an incredibly broken system to me.
Because the slot values for your picks combined gives you the total amount you're able to spend. So because they went 1.5 million over slot for Wood, they have to go under slot by 1.5 million somewhere among the rest of their picks.Quote:

I think if you don't offer 40% of slot bonus, you don't get a compensatory pick the next year if they don't sign. But I think as long as they make an offer, they keep the players' rights for the next year, so if you are out of eligibility, you don't have any leverage unless you're willing to go over seas.Quote:
