It certainly could but people forget that the 1980 MSU team that pulled off that upset finished 9-2 and was one of the best MSU teams in history that came within a whisker (a close loss to Florida) from being SEC co-champions with a Sugar Bowl berth. Unfortunately the MSU team this year doesn't quite stack up to the 1980 team and has as big a chore, if not bigger, with this Bama team that is coming to town than the Bama team we played in 1980.
A few more if's and we are sitting at 7-2, starring at 9-3 and in the conversation as a top 5 or top 10 MSU team.
