I don't see the concept. It might help make the SEC money which will give MSU more money but how does it make MSU basketball better?

How does Kentucky losing make state better? More money is a good thing
It's a double edged sword. Just like Alabama football being good for the SEC.
It doesn't.
This loss helps us for malik. Maybe a Harrison twin or Booker stays in school now to try to win a Natty and helps keep Malik from becoming a Wildcat. Townes is gone. WCS is gone. But the Harrison's really didn't improve their stock for the NBA. I don't know if their stock will ever get any better than it is now but they may stay. If Booker and both Harrison's stay, I don't think Malik will consider them. This is what he's waiting on. To see who goes and who stays.
TV contracts. Look at football. Seven NC in a row excellarated the SEC Network and the huge TV money for all 14 SEC members. We've gone from a $40 mill Ath budget to a $100 million one in that time frame. TV money is why we want the brand of the SEC to be its most valuable.
I understand the money part but how other than that does it help? I just don't see that up side.

@darrenrovell: SEC doesn't lose any $ from Kentucky losing. Schools are paid for every tournament game they play, but final.
