I agree!
Why? Our offense was second in the SEC and has been first most of the year.
How confident are we in our hitting coach?
Exactly, stats can be deceiving. We are now up to 15 SEC games with only ONE game where we have scored more than 7 runs. Most of the time we are scoring 4 or 5 runs which puts a lot of pressure on pitching and defense which has failed us in clutch situations as well. But our offense has been fading significantly over the last few weeks, that much has been fairly obvious.
There is a stark contrast to the engagement and approach of Gotreau and whomever we have now as hitting coach. Very different level of personal engagement and prep work. That is fact from players - fact.
Coggin was the hitting coach under Cohen for a year. I don't remember anyone being impressed with him. In fact Andy Cannizzaro fired him because he thought he sucked. And that's from an impeccable source. But now all of a sudden he has an offense that has a similar batting average to ours and a bunch of home runs with very possibly illegal bats and we have fans that want him back? Ok.
I have no idea about prep work but I assume McMillan is good w this. But remember our fans thought it was stupid to have a player coaching first when goat was sitting in the dugout. But if your hitting coach is in the dugout it has to help. First base coach is worthless has one job that helps. One. A player or a deaf nun can do that job
Yes. It's very curious. No idea if their bats are rolled or not and maybe they just play awful midweek pitching. And maybe it's just "that's baseball". I know umpires check crap like that so they probably aren't rolled. But as a whole their offense isn't significantly better than our has been on the year. If we have fans that aren't happy with McMullen they wouldn't be happy with 14 of the other coaches and they weren't all that happy when Coggin was here to start with regardless of his actual title and duties.
