Crazy times when the projected #2 overall pick decides to return to school.

He can make millions at Oregon and not have to go play for the Jets. Smart move
Disagree. The Jets have ruined a long list of QB's.
From a football perspective, agree. And there's not much better than being on a great team and trying to run-it-back with your boys.
Financially though, everyone knows the key to making big money in the NFL is getting off of that rookie contract ASAP.
Ask Zach Wilson and Sam Darnold:
Zach has yet to overcome the Jets curse- spending 2024 as Denver's 3rd string QB not playing a down all season and then 2025 as a Dolphins back-up where he threw 11 passes.
Sam Darnold got traded to Carolina after 3 seasons where he finished out his rookie deal. Then landed in SF as a backup on a small deal. Got a meager deal QB-wise with Minn in 2024. Playing for Minn got him paid in 2025.
Dont go to the Jets- it costs you money in the long run. Hell, people were scared to sign Aaron Rodgers after his year there getting hurt and he is 1st ballot HOF
Crazy concept. Steal the OM strat and say you'll refuse to play for them and force a trade.
He's either going to the Jets / Browns this year or the Jets / Browns next year.
Jets or Browns this year or next? Well, if you really think no matter what you do you will end up at one of those two places and you think both will ruin your career, you have to stay another year and make as much as you can do you not?
Then take your chances in the NFL but why throw away several million to get your career ruined.
Oregon gonna pay him 7.5MM and he doesnt have to go to the Jets. Thats an easy decision
Should do what that B**** Eli did, refuse to go to the team that drafts them if they don't like it.
If your 3rd-4th round sure, stay, whatever: its still financially ignorant, just less ignorant. But if you are a top 5 pick it is a horrible decision (from a strictly financial standpoint). Not to mention this years QB draft class is very weak and next years is very good. But whatever, do you boo-boo. I can explain it to you, but i can't understand it for you.
There will come a day when a player invests his money correctly during college then spurns the NFL and goes elsewhere since he has more money than he can spend.
Henceforth I will always call it the NFL Dfart
