If Lebby fails nexts season, should we look at what byu and Utah do?

As teams are getting lighter and lighter on defense to deal with spread offenses, Utah and byu are playing power football. Both are ranked teams.

I have no idea if this would work in the sec, but I think we have to try to figure out how to stay ahead of the curve. Trying to do what other teams with better funding do isn't really a path to success. So whether it's power football or something else, we have to try and find a way to neutralize our disadvantages.

Let's just hope Lebby doesn't fail, and this ain't an issue.

The answer was Leach with a mobile QB. Sawyer Robertson would have us in the playoffs last year / this year.

I'd love Brennan Marion. Had a really solid first year at Sacramento State. Only one "wtf" loss. Played an FBS team close. Played a top 5 FCS team close. First game got smacked by a different top 5 FCS team.

It's early in his trajectory but him and his "Go-Go" offense with two backs set in different spots is unique enough to cause fits. By 2030 he'll have a major head coaching job or be the hottest name on every search board. He's gonna take his lumps right now - would be awesome to get a guy so obvious a rising star like that.

Sounds interesting.

I like the idea of Brian Newberry at Navy. The guy has won a whole lot with disciplined football, but he came up through the defensive side of the ball, so I don't think he would force us to be a triple option team or anything like that.

Not to pick on you but there is no such thing as obvious rising star. Several guys people thought were the hot rising stars when we hired Lebby and stumped for them, are now cold 2 years later.

Oh lest we forget the can't miss rising star candidate Jamey Chadwell who is, checks notes, 4-6 this year. That's after going an unimpressive 8-4 last year where he only beat 2 teams with a winning record.

If Lebby fails it will because we didnt have the money to sign enough players on D. Next year's offense has the potential to be the best we've had since 2014/2015 and possibly ever

Next year's offense could be scary but we need to get a couple of OLs and 3 WRs.

I agree on defense though. We have to be able to sign some defensive guys this cycle, especially along the LOS.

Next years offense being great depends on if we're able to keep what we have already.

Lebby is a great evaluator at wr. Hopefully he gets better at qb and oline

I don't think it's that cut and dry. We've seen Coleman play and he's reliable with sure hands. I would take Coleman and Craver over Evans any day of the week. I can't remember the specific games but I know several instances where Evans has cost us big. Big moment dropped passes and didn't he basically toss the ball into a defenders hands for a TD a few weeks ago? That's what separates Evans from Coleman and Craver. Thompson is more debatable.

Eh I think the opposite might play out. These guys have to pay buyouts and crazy new coach contracts that will have to pull away from it. Not saying average fans wont step up but the big money will be tied elsewhere.
